Never been to San Diego, so was so surprised of how beautiful it was. We chose this hotel by chance and readers reviews and was not disappointed. It had the view , pool, resturant, and the spacious rooms and balcony was wonderfull. The rooms very clean, comfy beds and we enjoyed the kitchenette. The bay was right across the street(which is dead end street,so not a lot of traffic). My sister drove down from riverside California which made the trip so special, I only get to see her once a year. We had. Wonderful time enjoying the hot tub, pool, and the little happy hour pub. This was an excellent spot to stay, shot drive to gaslight district, rides up the coast line and spectacular view of pacific ocean! The day shopping over on Coronado Islabd and beach day so, so much fun. We are planning a trip in september to go back and hopefully get the great deal on the Best Western, would even like to get the second floor in the middle building, now I forget the name of that bul
Building, but the service there is great and Im sure they will Remember us. We are great guest! I'll let you know how it turns out , catch ya later.

Room Tip: The second floor facing the bay excellent choice if you don't mind the traffic, but great views...

We booked a "King Suite" in the Casa Del Mar building and were a bit disappointed at how average the room was for the price.
First the room was not ready at check in time, then we realized there really wasn't an elevator, then the TV remote failed to work, and the heater had an extremely noisy fan combined with confusing controls. The patio was so narrow that it was hard to get past someone sitting in a chair and only two metal chairs were provided with no table.
There were two bathrooms (one with a great shower), plenty of towels and the room was quiet.
The restaurant was the hidden gem in this mediocre place - it had great food and great service.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel last week. It was better than the pictures. We had a regular room with 2 queen beds that were really comfortable. In front was the water and a pier where people were fishing. You could also see downtown from there across the water. In the back was a marina with alot of beautiful sailboats. The 2 pools were heated which was wonderful because it got really cool at night. There were also 2 hot tubs (1 at each pool) and by the pool we used the most there was a fireplace which was nice. There was plenty of parking and it was free. Really beautiful area with restaurants and yacht clubs all down the street. Really close to the couple things we went to (Balboa park and the USS Midway). We didn't eat at the restaurant so I can't comment on that but we peeked in and it looked really nice. We would definately stay here again if we go to San Diego.

I would stay here again. We came to the area to attend a wedding. Our family all agreed the rooms were clean and up-dated and the staff was very welcoming. My daughter and I took advantage of the hotel's bike loan and explored the beautiful area of Shelter Island.

We've just spent four nights here and had a lovely stay, visiting Sea World, Mission Beach and San Diego Zoo as part of our trip. In the newer end of the hotel in a deluxe water view room was definitely the right choice. We were disappointed with our room on the first night as it over looked the road/car park as well as the harbour. The staff were very helpful and we were moved the next day.

Staff in the bar were also great, we drank there a couple of nights and ate there one evening - food was tasty and good value as we took advantage of the early bird option.

We enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub every day- not massive but big enough for a hotel of that size.

The free wi-fi, parking and access to computer/printer were really appreciated. When you package everything up together - service, location, quality of hotel and extras it really is a great choice for San Diego.

We recently spent two weeks at this Best Western and really enjoyed it. We had a one bedroom suite with a little kitchenette. Our room looked out over the bay and we enjoyed watching the boats go by and hearing the seals at night. The location is wonderful for sight seeing as it is centrally located. It is also great for more relaxed days. It is right across from a great walking path and park. There are many good eating places within walking distance. The hotel is clean and well maintained. We used the laundry facilities twice and were really happy it was right on site. The only down side we found was several days people on either side of our room sat our on their porches and talked late at night which sounded like they were in the room. Most of the time was very quiet. We will definitely keep this location on our list of places to return to.

The location was close drive to the beach, Sea World, Balboa park and downtown. Check in was quick and staff was friendly. The room we were first checked into had dim lighting and was located right in front of stairs, so the first night was noisy for me (the person I was staying with said he wasn't bothered by the noise). Next day, I asked the staff if we could change rooms and there was no issues so we got placed in a different room. Second room faced out towards the harbor and was much more quite. Had a good night sleep the rest of the trip. I would recommend the hotel to those who have a car.
