The grounds are dimly lit at night and it is hard to find your room at night. The room numbers are too small to read and not reflective so impossible to see. Parts of the parking lot are narrow and hard to drive your car or back out of your spot without the possibility of hitting a structure or landscaping or planter. The room was smaller than I expected since it had two beds. One bed was up against the window pressed right up on the a/c unit. The curtains were so long they hung over the a/c unit. When I turned it on the air flow blew directly behind the curtain trapping the air flow. I had to "MacGyver" some decorative pillows to keep the curtains flat to let the air flow into the room. There is only 1 plug by the sink. You can not have a hair appliance plugged in and the refrigerator at the same time. Your choice of cold food and drinks or groomed hair. The room was clean. I do not like the way they charge my room to my debit card. They charge your room rate with the incidentals charge at check in and then charge your room rate again at check out. I checked in on a Friday night. The extra charges came off when I checked my account again on Tuesday. An inconvenience if you are on a tight budget and using a debit card. Overall the grounds were well kept and the room was clean, but had poor appliance, electrical outlet and furniture placement. No elevator for 2nd floor rooms.

Room Tip: ask for a room by the pool or near the office. Do not get a room near the laundry bldg. No elevator for second floor rooms so if you don't want to carry your bags up a flight ask for a ground level room

Booked the Best Western Seven Seas through Hotwire for a two night stay while attending the airshow @ Miramar. Hotel is just average, do not expect anything great. Room was not very clean and had a real strong chemical smell so did the pillows & sheets. Outside area dirty with cigarette buts everywhere. The location of our room was in the very back in the five hundred building. I would not stay here again. Live & learn.

Made our reservations through the zoo website and got a great deal. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. It was nice to have free parking. Last year we stayed at a hotel on the north side of hotel, paid for parking in a cramped lot. Rooms are clean and without any odors. The rooms are on the small side. We had two double beds and there wasn't a lot of extra room to walk around. Our family had rooms 363 and 349 and did not have any complains. The air conditioner/heater was new and quieter than most motels. The bathroom fan was also very quiet. Lights in the room were also bright, something we appreciate when we are reading. We chose not to eat at the restaurant attached to the hotel, it seemed over-priced, especially for breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter as they face away from I-8

I took advantage of discounts received from Hotels.com and stayed here. I always check with Trip Advisor before my hotel selection. This is an older property but the rooms are small and well maintained. The staff was friendly and accommodating to our early arrival.

Room Tip: This property is next to a fwy. on-ramp. If you are a light sleeper request the other side of the hotel.

I arrived late and found the room clean and comfortable and appreciate free parking, which is becoming harder to find these days, even in non-downtown areas where you would expect a fee.
The property is actually much larger than it appears from the road - around 300 rooms tucked against a hillside. For around $75, it was a good value for an overnight.
