“Affordable hotel with excellent customer service.”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

We had booked a special offer to stay here for 2 nights in July. However due to our car being broken into whilst visiting San Diego we needed to change our plans at the last minute. Hats off the receptionist ! She took pity on us and our predicament and cancelled our 2nd night free of charge. That’s customer service for you and helped restore some cheer in an otherwise depressing afternoon. We were given a corner room with 2 queen beds. It wasn’t particularly spacious (typical for the city) but very clean. There are a number of restaurants in the vicinity and we had dinner at the marina across the road.. As mentioned by others the selection at breakfast was excellent, only the breakfast room is quite small and the hotel was full. We found a place in the lobby without a problem.
Only niggle was that in our room we had virtually no connection to the wi-fi, however when I stepped out into the hallway it worked fine! Other than that this was a fine hotel and I would stay here again.

We stayed a week at this hotel in January 2013, we paid about $60 a night but would have happily paid more, the hotel and our room was immaculately clean, the breakfast although in a small breakfast room was well stocked all the time with plenty of choice, cereal, waffles, toast, bagels, pastries, boiled eggs, yoghurt, good coffee and there is free coffee in the hotel lobby and coffee making in the room. Also in the room was a microwave and fridge, only complaint was that the rooms were small by American standards, but the cleanliness made up for this. They offer a Free shuttle to and from the airport and we had free parking for our stay there and 4 days free parking while we were on our trip to Vegas, IMPORTANT TIP Try to get a room at the rear of the hotel, the windows are not double glazed and although rooms are larger at the front there is a lot of road noise which starts at about 5.30. You can walk from the hotel to the marina boardwalk where there are bars and restaurants and you're only a 5 mins drive from many of the sights of San Diego, go and see USS Midway and Old Town and Coronado.

Just under 10 minutes to downtown San Diego, overseeing the Harbour, great views... Ask for ocean view on at least the 4th floor.... 5th and 6th better.... Lots of road noise... But the views worth it.... Great Restaurants across the street, free parking, free shuttle service it the attractions like the City Trolley tour, Or Whale watching etc.... Zack the van driver, Soooo courteous, even offered to pick me up after the tour, as long as he was still on shift. If you wanted the 923 bus goes back and forth in front of the hotel, ride the SD mts for the day .... $5.00 even onto the trolley all day! If you need a cab from downtown under 20 bucks. Great heated pool & hot tub, clean and clear, good American style in house breaky... The waffles, front loops, boiled eggs, bagels and of course the white & brown bread, pastries.... Fresh fruit everyday. The staff is friendly and helpful.... Beds are comfy....

Room Tip: Harbour view higher floor... They gave us a third floor but moved us the next day when one became av...

We stayed here so we could be close to a lot of things and look out at the bay. The location was fantastic for a winter trip where we didn't want to have immediate beach access. The harbor was fun to look at, and there were 4 great restaurants right across the street. The swimming pool was nice and the hot tub was in a covered area so it could be used even when it rains. It is very close to the zoo, airport, and of course, the harbor. Breakfast was ample, but crowded. There are some tables out front which are nice. Parking was great. The room was clean - but I do prefer the Best Westerns that have the dispenses for soap, shampoo, etc. rather than the cheap bottles (but I also really don't like Pantene shampoo). The only issue we had was the noise from the street- the windows are very poorly insulated against sound. I had requested a Harbor view room thinking it would be quieter, but that put us right on the street, since the harbor is on the other side of the street.

Room Tip: If you don't like noise, try a city view - they might be more toward the back?

This hotel is easy to find, has ample parking, is close to alot of things. has nice rooms, but the noise from the street is awful. We had a room facing the street with a small balcony. The room was a double queen bed and nice sized. The bathroom was a little too small but useable. It was clean, but you can tell this is an older hotel. There are a surplus of outlets in the room, when you travel with teens that is important. The hotel provides a nice breakfast in the morning. Here is the problem,, the nice floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass door that look out to the harbor are single pane windows. At around 5:00 am the traffic starts moving on the street below, you hear every tiny thing. If someone closes the door on their car you hear it,, if they honk their horn you hear it, if they rev their engine you hear it. Being as we were there for a little getaway, I did not need to be awake at 5:00am,,,, but I was.... The walls in the hotel are thin also, we could hear the people in the hall as well as the rooms next to us. I really wanted to give this hotel a good review, but the noise factor was to loud to ignore. There are several resturaunts nearby and everything else about the hotel was fine. The beds were clean and comfortable with good linens. I will not stay here again. I am a light sleeper and the noise was to much, however if you are one of those people who can sleep through anything,, this could be a good bet for you. The price is good for the area.

Room Tip: The view of the harbor is nice but these are the noisest rooms.

This is hard place to beat for the price and the location. With the marina just across the street, it offers an idyllic setting, a comfortable breakfast and a clean, quiet room. I've been to better places in the world but I just wanted a place to temporally call home base while I investigated my surroundings and spent time with grown children. Try the Farmer's Market for delightful culinary treats or the Fish Market on North Harbor for a filling and comfortable seafood meal. I wished only that their ice machine was not relegated to one floor of the hotel but I know that the economics of such are a factor for the hotel.
