We spent our last night here for the ocean views and it didn't dissapoint!
The rooms are dated and there is a parking fee at $18/day.
I did hear that the hotel will be undergoing renovations soon, and there is parking available on the street if you can get it.
The location is what makes this hotel! Otherwise,it is just an average hotel. I would love to see it post renovations.

Even though the hotel is older, the room was spacious and clean and the view from the 'ocean front' unit was magnificent. The beds were very comfortable and the staff had met every need I had inquired about when making the reservation. I was traveling with my daughter who has special needs so the thoughtful staff was greatly appreciated with their helpfulness. The location can't be beat and I'm already making plans to return to Pacific Beach once again.

Every employee we dealt with was so friendly and helpful. The view right along the beach and boardwalk was wonderful. There are plenty of good places to eat within walking distance. It is also pretty easy to catch the bus to many attractions.

stayed for two nights on a road trip. Parked nearby on street to save $18 per night. Spacious room with side view of sea. Location perfect. Immediately on boardwalk and beach. Pool lovely as was jacuzzi. Sea amazing for surfing and restaurants and bars nearby superb (avoid Dennys). If renting beach items go one street in from sea front for cheaper prices. Receptionists almost too helpful . Insist on highlighting local map but over zealous

Room Tip: high level with a sea view away from reception entrance

Our stay at the Best Western Blue Sea Lodge was simply wonderful! We needed a wheelchair accessible room & the Blue Sea Lodge provided absolutely everything we could have wished for! We were able to easily navigate the building, the room and we had parking that was easily available. The bench in the roll in shower was so nice, the view was breathtaking and we were close to everything we needed. The staff was absolutely excellent from housekeeping to the front desk. Our room was always clean. If I could change anything, I would have the bed be a bit firmer, but it was not bad. I would absolutely visit again if I am fortunate enough to go back to San Diego!

Kathy A, it was a pleasure having you as our guest. Our housekeeping staff takes great pride in the cleanliness of our hotel and guest rooms. Thank you for taking the time to recognize these staff members that are often overlooked; they truly are the unsung heroes of the hotel. We hope you are able to make it to the area again as well.

Great location! Hotel exterior looks dated but the rooms are well-appointed. It seems to be one of the very few hotels right on Pacific Beach. We had a "partial ocean-view" room, but it had a great view of the beach. The Pacific Beach walkway was a 30 second walk from our door and was always an enjoyable walk. There are numerous restaurants along the walk, check TripAdvisor for the best ones. The hotel has rental bicycles which you can take on the long loop around Mission Bay or along Pacific Beach. However, we had a flat tire at some distance from the hotel and were left on our own to deal with it. The room was kept clean and the wifi was reliable. Didn't try the hotel restaurant. Pacific Beach has a genuine surfer vibe.

When we first arrived there was a male employee speaking to another female employee. I didn't catch his name, but believe that he was the manager on duty at the time. I was actually a bit taken back by how rude he was from the get go. First I had made eye contact with him but he ignored me and continued chatting with another employee. I could tell it wasn't important our about work. Then when he did finally acknowledge us he was arrogant and it almost felt condescending the way he talked down to us when we had just arrived to check in. I was worried that his tone / actions were going to set the tone for the trip. Then we were assisted in checking in by Vivian, who came in from the back. She turned it around for us. She was extremely kind and helpful. I really appreciated her approach with us. She happened to ask us why we were visiting and I mentioned it was our anniversary. After we brought our bags up to the room, she personally came up and gave us a special care package she had put together for our anniversary. She was super sweet and went above and beyond for us. Now about the hotel, it's not fancy, but we love it! The location is everything and the fact that they have a bottle opener in the bathroom actually a cute touch to us. The room is nice and clean. It's not huge but it is big enough to accommodate you and the balcony is what really steals the show. Waking up and falling asleep to the waves is a major bonus. The privacy of the balcony is nice too. None of the other rooms can seen onto your balcony and you aren't distracted with views of others on their balconies. Honestly it's the best deal in PB for an ocean front view. I took my time doing the research.
