Quiet stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 31, 2017via mobile
We stayed there mid week for our visit to SeaWorld. The room was quiet and clean. The parking was a little tight probably because they were busy. The air conditioning wasn't that cool.
They serve breakfast starting at 6:00 I believe and had apples, bagels, cereal, oatmeal and coffee.
Very nice employees and they have an armed guard so we felt safe. We enjoyed our stay.

While checking into the hotel we noticed signs that said smoking was only allowed in certain areas. We ask the young man who checked us in for clarification about where to smoke so that we could follow protocol. We were told that smoking was allowed in the parking lot and the gentleman checking us in gave us a room that gave us close access to the parking lot. After checking out we noticed additional charges from the hotel and called to inquire about them. We were told that we were charged for smoking in our room. After explaining that we had followed instructions and only smoked in the parking lot we asked what evidence they had to prove that we smoked in the room. We were given two different stories, first she said she did not know becuase these things are not documented in detail, then she said the room smelled like cigarette smoke. The room did not smell like cigarettes while we stayed there and most importantly we did not smoke in the hotel room. Please do no stay in this hotel.

Good location for our 3 day stay. For the reasonable price, we did not expect 4 star but is closer to a 2 star. Very noisy, bed is very hard, grounds are not particularly well maintained. Plumbing is low pressure, shower head is so low that even us shorter people have to stoop. Room was very basic but clean. Unfortunately bedding had cigarette holes in them (in a non-smoking room) and Internet is irratic. Breakfast options consist of cereal, stale bagels, apples and oranges. Nothing else. Worst breakfast options we've received in any hotel in recent years. Pool and hot tub were clean and well maintained. Seems to be several full time residents. Staff was pleasant enough although we thought it was odd that they wanted ID from both of us and they gave us only one key that didn't work well. It was priced mid-range so we did have higher expectactions. We wanted a decent location, pool, hot tub, and breakfast included. To be fair, we got 3 out of 4. It served our basic needs but we'd probably not stay here again.

Room tip: Away from stairs.

The rooms are outdated and watch out for the "steps" in front of some rooms on the second level that are not "marked" we tripped and almost face planted into the maids cart. Barely enough room to walk around the carts that seem to never leave. The pool was crystal clear while the hot tub was GREEN AND SMELLED LIKE SWAMP WATER. Brought this to the attention of Arnold at the front desk. When we checked in we asked for extra towels as we planned on spending our evening in the tub. His maintenance man finally showed up 45 mins later only to tell us it would take 4 hours to clear which meant no hot tub for our special evening. We quickly checked out and were told that because we had been there more than 15 mins there would be no refund as that's their policy. I asked to speak to the Manager Kimberly who was conveniently not on the premises. Arnold apparently got a promotion during this conversation because he then told me that HE was the front desk Manager.....hmmm.... booked into a much more reputable hotel and had THE most FANTASTIC STAY! Don't make the same mistake we did!

They did not have the breakfast that they advertise on their website -- we had to eat out. They have coffee, cheerios, bagels and oatmeal. They advertise toast, muffins, donuts, variety of cereals, fruit, etc., on their website, but they don't have those items. They indicate that they haven't served the breakfast on their website for over 3 years now.

They kept deactivating my room key even though I paid for 4 nights in advance. Had to keep walking to the front desk to get into my room after a day of walking amusement parks.

They do not have a heated pool either -- even though their website says it is heated.

They also closed the entire pool area on a Saturday night so we couldn't use the jacuzzi either -- to have a Halloween party for employees. Not a a reason in my mind to keep paying guests from enjoying the facilities they advertise.

So, if you actually want breakfast, plan on swimming with the kids, or want to get into your room at night, stay somewhere else!
