Just returned from a Memorial Day weekend trip to San Diego, chose the Holiday Express for its location and value. What I was impressed with the most was the staff. Jeannette, thank you for making our stay perfect, for assisting us with local transportation, for your warm smile each time I passed the front desk. The location is walking distance to the Gaslamp, to Little Italy, embarcadero and Seaport Village. The only downfall is that the hotel sits on top of a hill and no avoiding the climb as you return. Yes the property is older but everything was working, the room was clean and tidy. All and all great stay and would highly recommend this property.

Hard to find the proper entrance and elevators when arriving tired, rooms needed a major upgrade. The tap fell off our sink on our arrival which I reported right away and was not fixed yet when we left 2 days later. rugs were in need of a major shampoo. Would not stay there again.

Room Tip: don't stay there

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was typical of HIS. The room was clean and it had a nice size TV in it. The location is great for those wanting to check out the Gaslamp Distict. The view from the patio is very nice. The room price was very reasonable. The reason I said the hotel was only very good (given the price and location) was the view from our room. We had no view from our room. From our window we could see the elevator. If the reservation confirmation would have said the view was obstructed, I would have called the hotel to see if we could have had another room. If you can get a room with a view, this place is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a west looking room.

We recently stayed one night using the Snooze N Cruise package which is very convenient but unfortunately our car was broken into in the parking garage. The hotel has been unresponsive and even though they were aware of the break in, they did not notify me in advance. A very unpleasant experience coming back from vacation and having to deal with the front desk who did not have details of the break in. Be sure to check the airport shuttle times as the shuttle service was not available for our return pick up and we had to take a cab. On a positive, the hotel was walking distance to many restaurants. I would go back for short trips but would not park my car for an extended trip at that location.

It is a simple hotel as many others, with friendly staff. the location is not so bad, not so far from the Quarter, where you can choose any kind of restaurants. It is a few blocks away and you can go by walking (the only point is that the last block, you will feel your foot!!)
The breakfast is really good if it is considered continental.
