“5 Star service - everything and everything”

This Superb hotel on Tom Fazzio designed golf course will leave you spell bound. If magnificent decor doesn't get you the top notch service will. Highly recommended. Many restaurants to choose from. Poolside to 5 Star French cuisine this grand hotel has it all. I think I counted 3 swimming pools, tennis courts and even horse riding on property. Easy access to 5 freeway leads straight to the beach.

Everyone deserves a splurge now and then, and this hotel provides everything you could want.
Outstanding service, either psychic or more likely in radio contact, seemed that most everyone knew our name, from valet, to check in to dining.
Dinner was yummy, breakfast even better!
Rooms are opulently deluxe, service outstanding -- most difficult to find any faults at all . . .
We did not take adbvantage of the Fazsio design golf course, yet you do not need to do that to fully enjoy the beauty of this resort.
Lots of happy families ~ we will come back again

Room Tip: Room 118 on ground floor, walk outside to enjoy the gorgeous view

From the moment you pull up to this place you know you are about to be spoiled. The rooms, grounds, and entire facility are out of this world. I will be back with my wife for a romantic get away. The service and vibe match the opulent surroundings.

Room Tip: No bad rooms in this place

This hotel has it's reputation for a reason. If you are looking for over the top opulence and luxury, this one is for you. The rooms were very clean. They were well furnished, the bathrooms were very nice- marble, gold embossed faucets, lovely deep large tub. We absolutely loved the location of our room, it was just off of the adult swimming pool. We had a very private patio but could step straight into the pool area. The adult pool area was quiet, and not heavily occupied. They pumped serene music UNDER the water so when you dunked your head you got a nice surprise! The grounds were impecible. The hotel is nestled deep into an exclusive community, there was security at the entrance. The golf course and landscaping looked great, with rolling hills and valleys.

I'd just give you the heads up on a few things:

1) Self parking is at the top of a hill and a short uphill walk. It would be a bit of a challenge for those mobility challenged.

2) This hotel is definitely high end- as seen by the overwhelming majority of super high end cars and fancy dress of the patrons. If you want to wear shorts and a T-shirt you will look out of place. We did anyways (we're on vacation after all), but I always felt a bit underdressed.

3) This hotel is set back in an exclusive community. Great for an air of luxury and exclusivity, but isolated and requires a car to get to any attractions/restaurants etc. We had a rental car and driving around was easy in San Diego, but a car is a must to get anywhere from this hotel.

Room Tip: If you are an adult couple and enjoy swimming, it was super convenient to have the room just off the...

The Grand del Mar is one of those unique resorts where service is their top priority. The property is beautiful and offers all that you need for a relaxing get away in the SoCal region. All that you need is on the resort property. Golf, Spa, Restaurants, Tennis, Pools and other outdoor activities. One drawback is that although the Fazio designed golf course is both challanging and beautifully kept, there is only 18 holes available. So as a "golf buddy" destination, or if golf is a focal point of your vacation, you will have to work at getting out at other local venues (i.e. Torrey Pines) to fill your card. One of the top service oriented destinations I have ever stayed at.
About 20 minute drive north of SD downtown, so all SD attractions are easily available.

Room Tip: Although the upgrade rooms facing the adult pool are slightly larger and convenient, for privacy, ta...

Very luxurious hotel! As amazing as the hotel is, the staff are even more so. Stayed for a couple of nights as part of a reward from work. Beautiful in any way you can measure it. Although you feel a little like running in a maze to get to your room, they are very spacious and comfortable. I wish i had that bathroom in my house. The tub is quite large and can actually be filled in a very short time. unique set up where you open the window from the bathroom to the bedroom to let in natural light. The furniture is exquisite, very tastefully decorated. One of the best coffee machines I've tasted as well. It would have been use full to have had a kettle for tea, however when asked for this they brought up an excellent tea service to set up in the room. This place is not only a fabulous place, it's an awesome experience to be enjoyed.

A beautiful, luxurious property in Del Mar..the service, the quality of the drinks and food is superb. Its quite obvious they don't cut any corners here. My favorite part was sitting by the fireplace listening to the piano man..he takes requests. Very relaxing, just a lovely time.
