This is really a wonderful place to stay in the outer San Diego area. (~20min away). Staff was fantastic and always very helpful. Room exceeded my expectations and was very comfortable with the kitchenette. They have little social gatherings in the great room of the lobby in the early week and even periodically bring Popsicles out to the guests sunbathing at the pool. Breakfast had healthy options and there is a nice shopping plaza nearby. There is even a little minimart to buy frozen entrees and haagen daz icecream products if you are experiencing late night cravings! Great location, great room, wonderful staff. Definitely recommend.

Room Tip: I did not experience any problems with noise from the freeway but did talk to another guest that com...

Every staff was happy and helpful. Cally gave me directions to a great sunset viewing beach park with a playground for our 6yo - Del Mar city beach/Powerhouse Park. When I realized we would miss evening social, I asked if it would be possible for them to box it some of it up and put in our fridge - no problem. Nice coming "home" to some already cooked food while I began the cooking process.

Room clean and stocked. Pull out sofa comfy and room for our son, who never complained about noises anywhere and the bed - however he passed out in 5 minutes after a day at Legoland! Do note that when the sofabed is out, it takes up the entire living room and blocks the desk.

Hubby used the gas grill next to the pool next to our room for cook our steaks. Good breakfast. Be on your toes ready to pounce when a new batch of food comes out...blinked and waffles were gone. Like the communal table in the center of the room. We enjoyed conversing with other guests.

Room Tip: Albertson's, and a little ways off Stater Bros, are near. We did our grocery shopping right befo...

Dear Serenaviolet,

Thank you so much for your recent stay with us and the very useful feedback you provided for our future guest. The services and amentias you mentioned in your review are all standards for Residence Inn and I was happy to see that you and the family enjoyed them. Another bit of information for you is that we also provide complimentary grocery shopping service. We have a blank list in all of our guest room suites and you can complete this and give it to the front desk. When you return from a long day at Legoland, the groceries you requested will be stocked in your kitchen. This service is complimentary and we only charge our guest the price of the groceries. Remember this the next time you visit!

Sincerely,

Casey Grieme

I have been here quite a few times and the service is excellent. You are treated like family and the hotel family goes out of thier way to make sure you are comfortable.

Room Tip: Stay in the "penthouse" - building 1 overlooking the pool. Very nice and relaxing.

If you want to stay in the North County Inland area of San Diego, this hotel offers a very good home base. We stayed with our teenage daughter in July 2012. We ended up getting a two bedroom unit, as they were sold out of the 1 BR for our last-minute booking. The extra space proved to be worthwhile. The hotel was less than 20 minutes to the SD Zoo Safari Park, and about the same driving time to UCSD.

2 separate bedrooms (with queen beds), 2 full bathrooms, 3 TV's and a small kitchen. Surprisingly quiet considering proximity to the 15, but we had a unit closer to the Gatehouse and further from the freeway. Good A/C and comfy beds. Clean rooms except for a couple of carpet stains. Small fitness room which was rarely crowded during our visit. Free hot breakfast was decent and overall well-stocked, but lacked fruit selection. Free WiFi with relatively (for a hotel) speedy internet. Free parking. Small, but nice pool area with sports court and grill.

Very friendly staff. Free USA Today during the week. We did not take advantage of the evening receptions during the week, but many others did. Easy access to I-15. Plenty of nearby restaurants; our favorite was Thaigo in the nearby shopping center.

Room Tip: Closer to gatehouse probably less freeway noise

I recently played in a Amateur soccer tournament in Escondido and found the perfect location at the San Diego Rancho Bernardo/Carmel Mountain Ranch Residence Inn. Located right off the highway, it was 20 minutes from SanDiego airport without traffic and 30 minutes with rush hour (Tuesday at 5:30) traffic. It was 20 minutes from the fields in Escondido and 20 minutes to downtown San Diego. I even did a 30 minute ride to Ocean City beach to Ruby's at the end of the pier. There are restaurants all around (California Pizza, OutBack Steak House , etc.) as well as Ralph's supermarket where I got a Ralph's card and loaded up on groceries for the five nights I was there. Sevice was friendly and the breakfast was not needed as I made my own breakfast. The place was very family friendly. I paid with Marriott points so I can not comment on the price. I would definitely stay here again if I am back this way.

My soccer team stayed here for an entire week. We found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and accomodating. Every staff member I passed made an effort to smile and initiate a "hello". The breakfast was nice, as were the manager's receptions in the late afternoons. For the breakfasts they offered most of the same items every day, but to our delight they had something new each day. The serving staff were very businesslike and often went out of the their way to make sure everything was stocked. I think someone must have said something one busy morning about the juice being a little watery. Not only did they correct it right away, they went around the room and offered to pour a fresh glass for anyone whose juice looked watery. The managers at the front desk knew me by name and were always friendly and helpful, and in turn I wasn't hesitant to ask for area directions or information, or extra towels, or whatever it was. We were very pleased with our stay.

The rooms are clean and updated. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator/freezer, stove (2-burner), microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, garbage disposal, and all the basic pots, pans, utensils you need to fix a simple meal. The bedroom has a very comfortable bed, however, if you are planning to use the pull-out sofa bed, you might want to rethink this option. Not only is the bed uncomfortable, there is a lot of hallway noise that comes through the front door. We experienced a couple of issues during our stay: the living room tv wasn't working and maintenance had to be called to repair it, and the breakfast was disappointing -- one hour into breakfast they were out of everything except eggs, and we had to wait about half an hour for the buffet to be restocked. The weight room is nice, but small, with only two treadmills, one elliptical, and some free weights. The pool and jacuzzi area are very nice, and there is an adjacent picnic/barbecue area that is a great place to relax.
