This hotel is a very good hotel with good quality rooms, excellent location and facilities, the reception area I found a bit non appealing but everything else appears to be very much under control to give us guest good quality service. Good size flat TV screen with good choice of movies.

Room Tip: I took a room with water views but it appear that all rooms are excellent.

This hotel is right by Petco Park, Gaslamp, and everything in San Diego you might want to do in the downtown location. Walk outside the door and you are in Gaslamp. The hotel itself, as one other reviewer mentioned, is like a casino without any machines or gambling. The lobby is bright, flashing lights, strange front desk comprised of 4 individual stations. In spite of the annoying lobby, the check in and out process is very efficient. They take your cell number if your room is not ready, entering on the computer screen, twist the screen around so you can verify your cell number. Checking out, they simply spin the screen (if you've prepaid) and verify your e-mail to send you a receipt. Now, for the rooms....very modern, stark. The rooms have everything you need, except instructions on how to operate the shower, where the plug in is by the sink....(p.s. you pull out the drawer by the sink and it is to the right behind the door face). Very strange. Apparently they are all individually privately owned. This hotel is nice for a convention attendee, you can walk around safely. There are a million places to eat and little shops nearby.

Room Tip: One on the north side so that the train doesn't keep you awake!

We check in to the Hotel with another couple and shared a room for one night. The staff was great from check in to check out. Room was very nice and beds were also. Good View of the Pool. We all had sushi dinner at Nabu, excellent. The hotel was much bigger then I expected, it reminded me of a Vegas hotel without the noisy casino. The Club saturday was packed, people were hot, and drinks were well, going quick. We were afforded 4 passes to get into the club with our room and we were able to bypass the line whenenver we came and left with the help of the door guys. Not sure if this was protocol I think they were just being cool to us. The hotel is in a great spot with other bars and restaurants close by. I was really impressed by the outdoor fire pit area. We had such a great time we had a little trouble finding our room at the end of the night and floor security was able to help us. Thank you to them. In comparrison to W, Tower 23, and solamar the hard rock ROCKED! We had a blast and will stay here again when we come into town to see our friends.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Hard Rock and both times we had great experience. The staff is attentive and knowledgable and the hotel is in walking distance of lots of great San Diego attractions. The rooms are comfortable, we have stayed in the regular King room and the King Suite. The shower is AMAZING and beds are super comfy.

I stayed at the Hard Rock from 08-12JUL2011 for a conference at the convention centre. I was having a major birthday during that time and the concierge was kind enough to upgrade my room to a suite (not a rock & roll suite, but very nice!) upon checkin.

The room is generally great, though some things look stunning but don't work quite well - just try not to get water pouring out onto the bathroom floor when showering. The in-room amenities are good, the music is excellent.

The hotel itself is definitely getting the hip crowds that they want. Watching the paddy wagons arrive after the Sunday afternoon Intervention party is humourous. I suppose someone needs to fund the hotel's bars.

The lobby and restaurants are excellent, with a particular "world best" for Nobu. The happy hour at Nobu is very pleasant. Great prices and exquisite food.

Definitely an excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: go for a regular or themed suite - the up-charge isn't insance, but the difference is big.

Our leadership retreat was planned for this location and boy did it ever rock the event. Every staff member I encountered was filled with service and a positive attitude from the minute we stepped out of our car, to checking in and even riding up the elevator with some facilities people. The lunch they served was delicious. Our staff felt they were treated like a "rock star" and so our retreat was the best we have ever had. Amazing job everyone!!
