Wedding Event

Review of The Pearl Hotel
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 2, 2019
The hotel (for a day) was reserved for a wedding event. Reservations were handled well, accommodating everyone as planned for. The parking situation is somewhat difficult to understand; there are a very limited number of spaces, with no clear directions or information...especially if/when, someone who's not authorized, parks in one of the spaces. The rooms are slowly being up-graded with newer, quieter room air conditioner units. Noise from the roads as well as the bar area can be discomforting, but ear plugs are offered (upon request) from the front desk. It is a small, somewhat eclectic place. The prices are a little high (in my opinion) for what you get.

I needed to stay over for a night and be near to the airport. I found the Pearl online and booked it. I had a brief, but good stay. The bar/restaurant and pool scene is great, and was lively. Bartender Michael was very friendly. The room was small but well appointed. The whole experience is a great throw back to an earlier time.

I'd like to come back and stay here longer.

Room tip: perhaps upstairs overlooking the pool and restaurant

My girlfriend and I just stayed at The Pearl and had a wonderful time. Everyone we came in contact who worked at The Pearl was so nice and very accommodating!

The Ambience is so amazing. Super cool vibes. Our food and drinks at their cute bar was fantastic!

We can’t wait to come stay again!!!

We were on a road trip, so seeing the sights of San Diego was not on our agenda...we were just flying out of the airport, so the location was perfect for us. The Pearl hotel is just across the street from a marina, and we were able to walk to a great restaurant with great views. We would have grabbed a drink at the hotel bar, but they were not open at check-in. The bar area with tables and chairs adjacent to the pool was inviting, and there were several folks there when we came back. It’s a smallish area but bright with a chill atmosphere. Our room was comfortable, but it was dark. The one window opened to a concrete wall with neighbors above the wall, so we kept the curtain closed for privacy. The bed was a mattress on a wooden platform, so it was low but comfortable enough. The room had all the amenities you would expect. Yes, the fish was in the room. It seemed like a neat touch when reading the hotel description, but I ultimately felt bad for him/her as the bowl is very small and undecorated....an aquatic version of a 6x6 prison cell. A very different hotel that I would recommend if you like out-of-the-box experiences. We grabbed a coffee and delicious pastry just a block down the street at Better Buzz.

10/10 experience staying here last weekend. Really cool, retro, intimate atmosphere and a very friendly staff. This hotel is located about 13 minutes from Little Italy and the gaslamp district so you get the feeling of privacy while also still being relatively close to everything.
Awesome bartenders too!

We came to check out Point Loma Nazarene and wanted to stay nearby. Found the hotel by accident on another site but I knew the minute I saw it that my son would love it, and I was not wrong. He is a Frank Sinatra, 50s shindig kid. The setting for him was perfect. The music at the restaurant is great to listen to if you love “oldies”. The rooms are on the small side but you don’t notice, at least we didn’t. It’s got what you need and a little kitch as a bonus.

These types of hotels are a dying breed so if you ever get the chance to stay at The Pearl, grab a martini, check in and fall back into a simpler time. If my kid manages to get into PLNU, we’ll be staying here often! *cross fingers* thanks for a great stay! We’ll be back!!
