Amazing boutique hotel

Review of The Pearl Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 8, 2019
10/10 experience staying here last weekend. Really cool, retro, intimate atmosphere and a very friendly staff. This hotel is located about 13 minutes from Little Italy and the gaslamp district so you get the feeling of privacy while also still being relatively close to everything.
Awesome bartenders too!

We came to check out Point Loma Nazarene and wanted to stay nearby. Found the hotel by accident on another site but I knew the minute I saw it that my son would love it, and I was not wrong. He is a Frank Sinatra, 50s shindig kid. The setting for him was perfect. The music at the restaurant is great to listen to if you love “oldies”. The rooms are on the small side but you don’t notice, at least we didn’t. It’s got what you need and a little kitch as a bonus.

These types of hotels are a dying breed so if you ever get the chance to stay at The Pearl, grab a martini, check in and fall back into a simpler time. If my kid manages to get into PLNU, we’ll be staying here often! *cross fingers* thanks for a great stay! We’ll be back!!

On behalf of the Pearl Crew, thank you for your mighty fine review. We love people that get it and it sounds like you and your son are just our type of people. Honored you chose to stay with us and that you dig us! Sending good vibes your way for your son to get in to PLNU, so you can be a regular. Good luck and hope to see you soon!

Stayed at The Pearl as part of a business trip. I chose the property because it was close to my meeting venue and was one of the more affordable options. I was pleasantly surprised that The Pearl had a cool, retro vibe and unique touches like a beta fish in a bowl hanging from the wall as well as artwork created by kids from a local nonprofit. The restaurant served up yummy food with signature cocktails and a nightly "dive-in movie. All quite fun.

Super cool spot....actually too cool! A few years back this place woulda been Awesome and absolutely perfect. 3yrs later, & traveling with a kid...this place is too hip and cool for parents and their kid. Nothing wrong with this place just not the most “family friendly.” With that said. No issues with noise, cleanliness or friendliness. Overall a great place for a couple, would definitely go back sans the kid. Very cool spot, only dinged 1point as I was traveling with a kid. Otherwise great place! Check it out for sure for a great vibe! I will admit, the pet fish for the night was incredible for the little one!

You are still a cool cat, kid and all! Although we do love to have kids, overall the property isn't very "family friendly". We would love to have you back on a little vacation when you want to take a little break. Thrilled to hear you enjoyed the room and our vibe. Cheers!

I liked the hotel and their identity as retro. We had a fishbowl hanging on the wall in our room. I only gave them 3 instead of 4 stars due to our 12 ft by 8 ft room and 3 by 8 bathroom. We will stay again in a larger room. Staff was helpful and accommodating. A warning about the small room would have been nice. Good coffee.

On behalf of The Pearl crew, thank you for your review and feedback. It sounds like you stayed in our 'Gem' room, which definitely is a small room, but packs a punch with mirrored ceilings! All of our other rooms types (Jewel, Strand and Super Strand) are definitely bigger at 250+sq ft. It's wonderful to hear that our staff delivered on guest experience. We hope to have you back soon!

I’m so glad I decided to get a room at The Pearl instead of a chain hotel! They really go a long way to set the vibe here & it’s perfect. I purposely stayed in their smallest room~ ‘the Gem’. The bed is tall but easy to get into & as soon as my head hit the pillow, I enjoyed a great nite of rest. All the staff were incredibly helpful & I’d most certainly recommend to family & friends ☺️
