“Very happy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2008

We booked the 2 bedroom suite with 1Q and 1K bed. It came with 2 full bathrooms and kitchen equipped with a sink, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and 2 burner stove. We were very happy with the room. It was very clean. It came with lots of pillows and lots of towels. It also had flat screen TVs in both bedrooms and the living area.

Bathrooms: very clean and stocked with towels and tissue paper. The shower head was tall enough so you don't feel like you had to squat down.

Bedrooms: there were plenty of pillows but they were all down so, for me, it didn't provide much support. One bedroom had a small balcony.

Living area: there was a 2 person couch and a single chair to sit. There was enough room for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Kitchen: was well stocked with plates, cups utensils. It even had a knife, cutting board, pots and pans. They empty the ice bucket in the freezer so that you don't have stale ice when you check in.

Building overall: looks very new. There is a walking path behind. There is only one ice machine on the 1st floor but there are vending machines on each floor (4 total). There are 2 buildings. There's a hot breakfast every morning and a hot dinner Mondays through Thursdays. Very simple but gets you full. There are also more restaurants and a Starbucks and TCBY within walking distance. There is a Vons and a Trader Joe's and more restaurants within a 2-3 minute drive. Or if you're ambitious, about a 10-15 minute walk. Close to the freeway. The pool was small (31 person capacity) and the jacuzzi was only for 6 people but it looked like it was maintained.

Our family of 5 stayed 5 nights at the Homewood Suites and loved it. We used Hilton Honor Points and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom unit. I always appreciate when managers are willing to do this. Incidentally, the hotel was sold out as we tried to add an extra night at the end of the trip. Front desk informed us they'd been sold out every night for all of September and October.

My sons had a bedroom with a queen bed, a TV and a bathroom, my husband and I had a king with our own bathroom and TV and my daughter had the pull out couch with her own Tv. Hav ing the kitchen was invaluable. We picked up groceries at Trader Joe's (3-5 min car trip) and kept them in the fridge. We also took a cooler and filled it with sandwich fixings, sodas and fruit the days we went to Sea World, the Wild Animal Park and the Zoo. We didn't take the cooler into the parks, but kept it in the car for a picnic lunch. Huge money saver!

As other posters have said, the hotel is a superb value. Free breakfast, free light dinner, including beer and wine (M-Th eves).

The hotel is new and in a fantastic location. It's right off Harbor Drive in the former naval station that's been torn down and rebuilt as Liberty Station. There are parks being built, condos, restaurants, shops and the two hotels; Homewood Suites and Marriott Courtyard (next door). There's a beautiful walking path along the water behind the hotel. The navy training vessel, the Recruit, is in dry dock, right next to the hotel. Signs indicated it will be a museum. Within the same parking lot there are numerous restaurants, including a Starbucks. Turning out of the hotel onto Harbor Drive puts you at the marina area for harbor cruises, the Midway, the Star of India, etc.. within 5 minutes. Again, super location.

The staff was very friendly and our room was always cleaned quickly.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good value in a great location. It wouldn't appeal to someone looking for a highrise luxury, romantic hotel or one with a resort feel and luxurious pool, but otherwise I think most anyone would be pleased with the Homewood Suites. We'll definitely stay here again when we return to San Diego.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. I was looking at various hotels for weeks on TripAdvisor before I finally decided to stay at this hotel and certainly don't regret it. We stayed in a two bedroom- one King, one Queen bed suite. Traveling with two elderly parents this has been the ideal room layout. This Homewood also serves a nice complementary breakfast every morning every day of the week, with a manager's reception at night Monday through Thursday evening. I must say that the service and staff are second to none. I am not usually a high maintenance guest, but for this trip I felt like I had made a number of requests, which the staff happily helped me with. The staff are very friendly and the front desk extremely helpful as well as patient. The rooms are very clean and well kept, although the bedrooms were slightly smaller than I thought looking at the pictures online, it still had plenty of room to walk around. I'm all about clean rooms and friendly helpful staff. I give his place 5 stars, and will be staying here again on my next trip to San Diego. In terms of distance, it's about a 15-20 minute drive to Sea World and 15-20 minute drive to the San Diego zoo. You could definitely go back to your room for lunch after spending time in the parks in the morning, take a nap and go back in the evening.

Our family of 5 really enjoyed our stay at Homewood Suites Liberty Station. This is the ideal location to visit the many attractions San Diego has to offer.
We had a 2 bedroon suite which was ideal for us and we were impressed with the quality of the room.
The buffet breakfast helped get us out of bed early after late nights at the baseball and offered a good selection. If you choose to stay in for dinner "Oggis" across the carpark is terrific.
We found the staff very helpful with directions and the free parking was a bonus.
We wouldn't hesitate recommending Homewood Suites and look forward to staying again when we next travel to San Diego.

Our family of four stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a 26 day road trip and absolutely LOVED it.

We chose this hotel based on TA reviews and I can fully understand it being the # 1 hotel in San Diego.

We had booked a one bedroom suite via Expedia but found on checkin that we had been upgraded to a large two bedroom / two bathroom, fully equipped apartment at no extra cost. Free wi-fi is included in all rooms.

The property is very new, well laid out and in a very convenient location if you have a car. There are quite a few restaurants and a supermarket nearby if required.

All the staff were phenomenal in their dedication to customer service - they deserve a medal in this regard.

The free breakfast and "light" dinner were another bonus which we really appreciated and enjoyed very much.

Thumbs up Homewood Suites Liberty Station - keep up the great work you are doing!

Highly recommended.

I'm hard to please and I liked this hotel. It’s a simple place right across the street from a Navy base. There are lots of military personnel and families staying there. My wife and two sons (12 and 8) booked a two bedroom suite for $399 a night. Room was just big enough and the pool was small but clean/fun. The free breakfast was pretty much what you should expect for a free breakfast. It’s in a small shopping center so there are other places to get food close by. Staff were personable and helpful when asked. We needed to be in downtown SD and this was a perfect fit - just far enough away from downtown and no more than 10 or 15 minutes from Balboa Park and other attractions. I plan to try Homewood again on a family outing.

We returned to Vancouver BC last evening after spending two nights at the Homewood Suites, Lanning Road San Diego. Everything about this hotel is excellent, the staff, the rooms, the complementary breakfasts, the pool and with only a 5 minute drive to the airport.
Have already recommended it to friends.
