“Service and Location”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

Stayed on a Sunday and Monday night with my wife and daughter. We were on the last two nights of our San Diego vacation used points for a free stay I am a hiltonhonors member. At check in was upgraded to a bay view room that also overlooked the pool. The check is was friendly and professional no issues or problems we arrived early at the hotel around Noon so they took my cell number and stored our luggage for us. Check in is 4:00 our room was ready and we checked in at 1:30 front desk staff really went out of its way to find us a room that was ready.

Hotel grounds very nice it is a quiet area with parks within walking distance walking bridge over the bay and a small shopping area located out the front of the hotel. There are eating options available within walking distance of the hotel somewhat limited but workable.

The room was clean and up to par with other homewood suites we have stayed at. Kitchen nice size with modern stainless steel appliances fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Sitting area was comfortable with a small patio that had chair overlooking the pool and looking out on the bay. The bedrooms are a bit small we had king bed but not a problem and bathroom with separate vanity area is very convenient.

The pool is fairly small but warm we used it both days could get crowded at peak times. Breakfast each day was excellent great selection food was plentiful and although it was busy we were able to find a table both days. The evening meal/social hour seemed nice did not eat but enjoyed a couple of free beers, wine was also available along with tea and lemonade and of course coffee. There were several families enjoying the free meal which looked and smelled very good.

Location: quick trip to the airport with hotels free shuttle. We went to Petco park for a baseball game and the zoo in the same day both were easy trips, also went to seaport village one day which again was a quick trip from the hotel.

The only issues i can think of is that the hotel is a bit spread out, two separate buildings not a huge deal but people should be aware of that. Walls a bit thin it is a quiet hotel but you can hear your neighbors, could hear gentlemen next door snoring loudly during the night. Turn off the ice machine in the fridge or it makes ice all night long making noise if sleeping on the pull out couch.

I would highly recommend this hotel especially the service we cannot express how hard working and friendly the entire staff is at this hotel. Everyone went out of their way to help us with questions getting us taxi's and just generally doing a superior job of customer service that you don't always get. I wish I was better at remembering names but those working on the 17-20 of June were superb.

Location and condition of the hotel are all above and beyond most hotels we have stayed at.

We stayed here because it was one of the suggested hotels arranged with a group rate for a wedding we were attending. We went out a few days early and the hotel let us have the room at the same price. The hotel is in a great location. Everywhere we wanted to go was about 15 minutes away. Walking through the park that is next door was very relaxing. We found the dinners that are offered Mon - Thurs to be very good especially the BBQ Pork. We were surprised that they also served beer and wine with the dinner. During the day they have free coffee and tea and either lemonade or cucumber water. The front desk was extremely helpful. We asked for directions a few times and they immediately pulled out a paper with mapquest directions. We also asked about a taxi for a return ride and they gave us a business card to call one. They were able to accommodate every request we made. I would be happy to stay here again when I am back in San Diego.

The room was nice. We had a one-bedroom king suite with a convertible sofa in the living area. The bathroom had a shower/tub combination with a commode in one area, and then a vanity area across from the closet with a sink, mirror and blow dryer. The living area had a small balcony with one chair, but we moved one of the two dining chairs out onto the balcony when we wanted to sit outside.

The grounds are really nice, and the location is good. It is near the Airport or Liberty Station. There is a pizza restaurant and Starbucks within walking distance, and It isn't far from downtown.

The free breakfast isn't bad overall. The waffles are really good, and they have a variety of toppings including strawberry syrup and cans of whipped cream. Each day they offered scrambled eggs and either sausage or bacon, along with cereals, breads, and oatmeal. We didn't try the dinner because we were checking out the local restaurants.

The kitchen is nice, but for cooking there was only a two-burner stove and a microwave. I only mention it because we brought home a pizza and when re-warming it we usually prefer an oven or toaster oven. The microwave worked fine. The dishwasher was pretty loud, and the coffeepot makes 4 'cups' which is just enough to fill two mugs. This wasn't a problem for us since we went down for breakfast and had several cups of coffee in the lobby.

My biggest complaint are the door locks and keys. All of the exterior doors at this property are locked and require a key card. I've stayed in a lot of hotels, so I am always careful to keep my key card separate area away from my cell phone or anything else that could deactivate it. Unfortunately, our keys would not work the outside door near the parking lot. After trying, the keys wouldn't unlock any door. We went to the desk to get replacements, and were given a protective sleeve for the key card. When we returned it still wouldn't work on the exterior door. There were many times the key wouldn't work in different locks. We notified the staff so hopefully this won't be a problem for anyone in the future.

Overall we had a pleasant stay and enjoyed the views and the beautiful weather.

Room Tip: I love the view of the bay. The balcony makes it nice to sit and enjoy the weather.

My family of 5 stayed here for 6 nights and it was great. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel offers free breakfast daily and free dinner Mon-Thurs, free parking and free internet and close to major attractions. When we return to SD we will stay here again.

My husband, son, and I stayed here and we were quite happy with the property. We actually had a split reservation with my husband leaving sooner and me downsizing to a smaller room. The management said it was fine to keep our original room so we didn't have to move luggage, items in the refrigerator, etc. They did this on their own w/o our asking. It was a lovely surprise and very welcome.

The room was perfect for traveling with a child. The hotel puts on quite a generous breakfast buffet as well as a dinner Monday - Thursday. For anyone on a budget, this is quite a savings. It is not gourmet food, but hey - it's complimentary and really nice to not HAVE to go out if you don't want to. It is perfect for kids and anyone wanting to save the cost of a meal out.

The only complaint we have is that the HVAC system is a bit on the loud side. However we feel that if that is the only thing wrong with this place, we can certainly live with a little noise. The rest of the amenities made up for it.

The location is very good. Very close to the airport and downtown. Just a few minutes away from Balboa Park, Sea World, and Coronado. There is a Starbucks and Subway as well as a couple of other places within easy walking distance. There are grocery stores, more restaurants, etc. within a very short drive.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for families or couples who want a little bit more room than a standard hotel room. It was perfect for what we needed and as I mentioned first, the front desk staff/management went above and beyond to make our stay great.

We would definitely stay here again.

I live in Hotel is by far Homewood Suites San Diego Airport-Liberty Station has been the best. they have exceptional front desk representatives, very friendly, helpful and very professional. The Chef, Martin makes the best food and not only he is friendly but very professional and helpful as well. Housekeeping service is great; one housekeeper above them all, Cecilia. she was very friendly and paid close attention to the guest's requests, left thank you notes which makes a big difference. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. When in San Diego, I would not stay anywhere else but The Homewood Suites at Liberty Station.
The up keeping of the hotel is perfect, great atmosphere, great appearance, everything is good about this hotel.

P.S. The whole team has the best General manager, Duncan, he is as professional and helpful as it comes

Thank you very much, I had the best time!

We stayed here before, a few years ago, and didn't hesistate tio stay here again. Great location, 5 miles walk from the city centre (we walked it, it's a lovely walk round the harbour). Very clean rooms and facilities, free breakfast and helpful staff. Great to have a kitchen so you can eat in if you're on a long holiday and would like a change from eating out. Subway and Starbucks 2 mins walk away, really good supermarket 10 mins walk away. Can't fault it.

Room Tip: Get a room on a high floor for the view.
