This was a business trip to Tijuana and Otey Mesa is very close to the boarded. The hotel was nice and clean, service was good. It was hard to find during the night because it is in the back of an industrial park. Could use a bigger sign for people getting off the highway. Still it's a great place to stay for close boarded access.

Even until yesterday, a week after we check-in this HolidayInn Express, with my wife, we were very happy we ran into problem with original booking Hotel: Travelodge and having this particular HolidayInn replaced as last min solution. So, it made our trip in San Diego started with smile at 2nd day morning. Breakfast are wonderful, they have the best staff, I wish I do catch her name. She is always happy and positively interact with morning crowd. The dining hall is clean and bright, it gives you such great morning to start with. The night shift staff "Paul" is wonderful, too. At our most stressful moment (got booted out from Travelodge for arguing $10/night additional fee,) Paul gave us totally different reception and let us feel God is still blessing everyone. We have stayed at the same establishment 2-3 years ago, so far, both stays are SUPER. Originally, my wife was complaining we need to drive a bit further from San Diego downtown to this location. But I personally don't mind, it is a joy ride to see the San Diego surrounding, and it is highway, it actually make our logistic even better for heading to Coronado island. The rate is super fair, compare with other establishments. We have our wonderful nights stayed at this Holiday Inn Express at Otay Mesa. ( Just need to pay attention about the highway exit, we accidentally cross the boarder, but the Mexican custom officers gave us a break, so we were back to US in 15 min - instead of …. a long line…we didn't bribe anything, really. )

Room Tip: The rooms are all good, if you love to see the boarder crossing from the window, for fun, you should ask for that.

I visited this hotel during the 4th of July long weekend with my family.
The hotel held up to its Holiday Inn standards in cleanliness and comfort of beds.
The staff was friendly, the room was of a decent size.
The reason I booked this hotel was its price and relative proximity to Imperial Beach. I was ok with the short drive in to the city, but what I did not expect was the completely desolate area where the hotel is located. There was literally nothing around - even the fast food stores were closed through the weekend.
We were also upset with the breakfast. Poor service, long wait for the basic items, queue kept growing but there was no one to attend and make sure the refill was happening on time. A lot of people including us, got frustrated with waiting and just left. Holiday Inn should definitely take care of this. I would not stay here again for the location and very disorganized breakfast service.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor are somewhat dark, opt for higher levels. Make sure you are stocked up on snacks - not much available around. Gas prices around that area are high. So gas up before you get there.

stayed there for 4 nights during my business trip to Tijuana/Mex. Hotel is located directly at the border.
a good and solid choice for business travelers, breakfast is ok, some fast food restaurants are in close proximity, however better restaurants or shopping malls are just a short taxi ride away.

Room Tip: hotel is located next to a busy road which could cause some issues to sleep (on the rooms with close proximity to the road)...Surely they give you another room if you ask.

Stayed here over New Year's break for a week. The staff is very friendly and try to accommodate but there is a disconnect throughout. The breakfast buffet never seemed to be at 100%. Always out of several things; usually the main items like eggs or pancakes. The rooms were not cleaned to satisfaction; bathroom items not replenished and strong chemical smells left behind. No manager on duty over the weekend to speak to about any issues. When I did finally talk with the manager, she was very apologetic and was genuinely concerned that we were having issues. She did what she could to help make our stay more enjoyable and that went a long way in my opinion! It is quite out of the way so they need to give people a reason to stay way out of the downtown area. Keep trying and getting better!

Room Tip: Face the Mexican border. The lights are pretty at night.
