“Nice hotel but poor response to dangerous condition”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2012

Nice hotel with a good location for the convention center (and the restaurant on the floor level is great). Trendy and decent rooms with good value. But when my wife told the management that there was broken glass on the floor in the bathroom of the room (and indeed, a note from a prior guest saying so!), they did not respond with aplomb and three hours later after returning from dinner, the glass was still on the floor. Had to put down towels to walk around as the hotel was fully booked.

There's a lot of cleanliness issues one can tolerate at a non-five star hotel. Broken glass in the bathroom isn't one of them.

Excellent and reasonably priced boutique hotel in downtown San Diego. Classy renovation of an older property with wonderful staff. Some reviewers complained about small rooms - wasn't such a problem for us except for two things: the reading chair was a bit in the way and to open the safe door you needed to shift furniture, so the only reason I didn't give it an additional star.

Was here for derm conference. Good stay with nice amenities and fair price. Good valet and courteous. Would recommend over W in Gaslamp.

Very very small room. Its described as boutique but sometimes that just means small and old.
The room is clean with very nice decor. Nice sized TV and an empty fridge.
Even though it is small there seems to be plenty of storage for 2 people.
The sink is just inside the room door. Its not even in the bathroom. This was unusual but not unpleasant.
Check in staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I didnt eat in the bar/restaurant but the beer was good.
The fitness room is excellent for a hotel of this size. Gym and a workout studio.
The location to the gaslamp quarter/mall amd USS midway is excellent.
Noise from the street was negligible.

2 problems.
The WC is tiny. And theres only a thin sliding partition between it and the rest of the room. Dont eat rich food or the entire room will face the consequences the next day ;)

Parking is 30 dollars a night. Valet only. I booked through hotels.com and didnt see this mentioned but its to be expected in a downtown hotel.

Room Tip: Away from the elevators. they were a bit noisy.

This hotel was very clean, had friendly staff, a good restaurant, and a coffee shop. The room was small but San Diego is all about being outside anyway. Other reviewers have whined about the size but I didn't find the size a problem at all. The location is great, it's a few blocks to the Gaslamp District and a short walk to the convention center. Short drive to all of SD's beaches and sights. It's not cheap but it's not too expensive either.

I would call the hotel good, not average. The rooms are nicely appointed and very clean, as was all the public areas. I give this a "good" rating primarily for the size of the rooms vs. cost of stay. The rooms are pretty small on the average (I've stayed here about 5-6 times) with even the suites being on the small side. Excellent location and the service has always been attentive when I've been here.

Botique hotel. I had a queen room and it was small but I didn't mind at all. There is a restaurant below that is great for dinner/drinks. It is not open for breakfast during the week, which was a bummer.

Pros - modern room, great shower head, nice towels, fridge, microwave, new feeling rather than old and drab, free wifi, nice staff, allow dogs, easy to walk places (we walked everywhere), convenient location

Cons - thin windows, walls and doors, slow small elevators, not the best lighting to put makeup on in the morning (a little dark)

I would stay here again
