Owner description: Traversing the beautiful Mission Bay as it moves back and forth between the docks of the Bahia Resort Hotel and the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, each thirty-minute leg of the Bahia Belle’s journey welcomes all— from the leisure traveler to corporate groups—to enjoy a unique social setting amidst the coastal scenes and mild climate that make San Diego famous. Designed to mimic the appearance of an 1860s-era sternwheeler, the Bahia Belle is a nostalgic opportunity to experience 19th century luxury. The 74-foot Belle is lavishly adorned with oak and brass railings, etched glass and curving, cast iron staircases reminiscent of the Deep South. The first two floors of the three-story vessel feature spacious rooms accented with rich wooden paneling, marble topped tables and lush textiles like red velvet curtains, while the Belle’s topside is an open air observation deck boasting panoramic views of Mission Bay Park - the nation’s largest aquatic park at 4,600 acres. The Bahia Belle follows a seasonally-changing sailing schedule, embarking multiple times throughout the day during the peak summer season. Families with children are welcome on board between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m., with live entertainment and music beginning mid-evening. At 9:30, the Belle transforms into a 21+ nightclub on the water complete with a full bar, dance floor, live local bands and DJ’s spinning clear through the night until final docking at 1:30 a.m. While an exciting adventure on its own, cruising with the Bahia Belle is also a welcome component of any multi-part evening on Mission Bay. Passengers may choose to partake in a post-dinner cruise after a dining at the Bahia Resort Hotel, where guests can enjoy Mediterranean and Moroccan flair from Cafe Bahia and Tangier Bar; alternately, bay-goers can also “jump ship” once docking at The Catamaran Resort Hotel, where they will be just steps from the surf and turf-inspired Oceana Coastal Kitchen and Moray’s, a bayside lounge dotted with tiki torches and tropical palm trees. The Bahia Belle’s sheer size and unique design renders it ideal for intimate to mid-size events, from wedding celebrations to holiday gatherings to company parties. Groups can also reserve an unforgettable evening on the Belle’s sister ship: the 100-foot William D. Evans, a composite of several early American steamboats of the 19th century.

“It's a nice time waster”
Reviewed July 25, 2012

If you have some free time, this sure beats sitting in the hotel or resort. The boat cruise is like 20 minutes or so, it's nice, take a jacket. There were drinks and music. The kids liked it. It was not great but better then sitting around waiting for dinner. If you are a guest you get free tickets, don't know if. I would have liked to spend 40 for the family to do it.

“An Evening of Fun”
Reviewed May 19, 2012

The Sternwheeler leaves the Bahia Resort every hour on the half hour. We caught the 7:30 trip. Its about a 20 min ride to the Catamaran Hotel. We got off and explored Pacific Beach, and took the 9:00 return trip. There was live music and dancing! It would be a great place to spend an entire evening ~ right there on the boat! Good Time!

“Great cruise”
Reviewed August 22, 2011

Just got back from our cruise on the Bahia Belle and LOVED it. We cruised from the Bahia over to the Catamaran and then back on the 6:30 cruise and loved the 40 minute trip. We were on board for sunset and twilight and there isn't much better than viewing Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, and downtown in the distance at sunset. It would be a great way to get from Mission Beach & PB at night and for $10 you get unlimited rides all night. Great deal.

“Take it or leave it”
Reviewed July 5, 2011

If you are a hotel guest or fried of a hotel guest you get on for free if not the cost is $10 per person. There are 3 levels on this large paddle wheeled boat. The boat circles between the catanarand and the bahia all night long with a view of the harbor along the way! The first floor had chairs and tables if you wanted to buy a sandwich or something! The second floor was. supposed to be live music and .dancing but their was no live music or anyone dancing when we were there. The security gaurds who were everywhere said the live dj was out on the other Bahia paddle boat for a wedding that night! We were bummed out and got of after the loop and went to look for a place to dance and we ended up in pacific beach less then 10 minutes north!
