Maybe street food in origin, but the markup is crazy. It's a great environment, though and the food was delicious! Beware the frozen horchata unless you have a real sweet tooth!

Early lunch on Wed. Excellent, attentive service. Love the guacamole, mahi mahi ceviche--just the right amount of citrus flavor. Tacos are flavorful and fresh. We had the carnitas, chicken, and fish. Tortillas could not be better. All the tacos were perfectly flavored, and not too spicy. (Being from New Mexico, we really like to bring the heat!). Husband really liked the house margaritas, even with the lime shortage, there was no shortage of tangy goodness. On the second visit, we arrived about 1:30 and it was craziness! The two greeters did an excellent job of managing everyone--bar was packed, and the place was very noisy. Service was a bit slow and uneven, but the meal was great. We ordered all the same items and added a Caesar salad-which was served with a nice slice of cheese. We really enjoyed both meals, and would highly recommend it, especially if you love sharing several small plates of food.

I live in San Diego and work downtown. The new "Headquarters" (the old SD police headquarters) was recently renovated (great job) and turned into a small mall with several restaurants. In my walks through the area I always saw lots of people in the patio at Puesto and wanted to try it. My husband and I took my dad for "Taco Tuesday" dinner. $2.00 tacos. I'm surprised to read the so-so reviews because I thought the tacos were really great. Great corn tortillas, and they had "flor de calabasa y nopales" tacos (called "zucchini flower and cactus") as well as other authentic Mexican tacos. The serve was beyond good. Great drinks, from Mezcal to good tequilas. Great ambiente as well. I liked it so much I went back today for lunch, just two days later. If you're in San Diego and not going to Tijuana to eat street tacos, I highly recommend Puesto.

The tacos were not very memorable. They seemed more mass-produced than carefully created. However, the service and tequila choices were good.
