Owner description: Located in downtown San Diego, the USS Midway (Museum) was America’s longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century. Today, the interactive museum is an unforgettable adventure for the entire family as guests walk in the footsteps of the 225,000 young men who served on Midway. Visitors explore a floating city at sea, the amazing flight deck and its 29 restored aircraft, flight simulators, and are inspired in the Battle of Midway Theater, included with admission. Admission also includes a self-guided audio tour narrated by Midway sailors in English, Mandarin, Spanish, Japanese, French and German. Visiting Midway is a once-in-a-lifetime experience in San Diego, known around the world as "Navy Town, USA."

My husband was very interested in visiting the midway and I was pleasantly surprised how much i enjoyed the visit. The volunteer staff are helpful and informative and I was amazed at the sheer size of the vessel. Good value and fun for the whole family.

Very well organized site. Speacial thanks to the junior pilot programme which made us all listen the headsets more carefully. And the batch our son got made his day! Don't forget to visit the flight deck!

Our family enjoyed our visit to the ship and Bob Hope Memorial right next door. Knowledgeable crew to answer any questions. Good perspective on how life on a ship of this size/age might have been without enemy attack. A lot of steep/narrow claiming of stairs, limited elevator access, you have been warned. Enjoyed the informative audio tour. Spent 2.5 hours and really only glossed over the ship, ran out of time and were not able to see the bridge. We came later in the day and battled to find parking, finally found a spot in the public lot next to the ship, 2 hour maximum (12 minutes per quarter) on the meter was a bummer, as the ramp designated for museum parking was full. Parking spaces were tight for anything but a compact vehicle.

We went here and were pleasantly surprised. First of all, it's got the best parking....$10 all day. We were right in front of the Midway. This museum is done right. There are people all over to give you info about what you're seeing. There's also an audio guide included in your admission. The cafe out on the deck serves great food and not too expensive. The deck with all the planes was amazing. You can do a simulator ride once you enter which looked fun. We did the extra 30 minute, free escorted tour of the bridge which was done really well by a volunteer who really added to his spiel. We could see from the deck and bridge the nuclear ships (including no. 70 which brough Osama Bin Laden to his watery grave). This is a fantastic place for adults and kids alike.

It is also next to the Bob Hope Memorial, which plays his USO tour audio and the Complete Surrender statue.

Educational and fun. Can spend a whole day here do not try to rush. Top deck can be hot in the sun. Tryto start the day early.
