Owner description: Located in downtown San Diego, the USS Midway (Museum) was America’s longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century. Today, the interactive museum is an unforgettable adventure for the entire family as guests walk in the footsteps of the 225,000 young men who served on Midway. Visitors explore a floating city at sea, the amazing flight deck and its 29 restored aircraft, flight simulators, and are inspired in the Battle of Midway Theater, included with admission. Admission also includes a self-guided audio tour narrated by Midway sailors in English, Mandarin, Spanish, Japanese, French and German. Visiting Midway is a once-in-a-lifetime experience in San Diego, known around the world as "Navy Town, USA."

To appreciate what the military personnel had to go through as far as sleeping quarters and the size and scope of the entire ship, you have to visit the USS Midway Museum!

We spent nearly 5 hours at this museum. There is a lot of stairs & ladders to climb up and down, but it is worth it. You get to see a glimpse of what life is like on an aircraft carrier. It was really fascinating how the tours would wind you down and around different areas. The self guided audio tour (which is included) is very helpful

This is a aircraft carrier.converted to a museum. It is history kept live. Follow the path, take the audio tour & you feel as if you are lost in history. It gives a clear picture of how the navy must have managed their staff. The numerous planes & standing on the short runway was feeling great. It satisfied my desire to know the different parts of a ship.At the end, you may feel like you have lived as a marine.
Overall: Must see place...

I went on a Friday about 1pm and was only able to spend a couple of hours but could have spent more. Didn't do the audio tour because of being on a time constraint but loved it. Parts of the museum are not accessible for those in wheelchairs or walkers. There are lots of stairs and stepping over those interesting doorways they have. There are elevators to take you to the hangar and to the top level but didn't see any to exit.

You cannot make a left turn into the museum parking lot so make sure you come in from the north and have fun!
