“Better than the ratings suggested”

I like down home bbq, not that franchise stuff. This place is so out of place to the area I had to try it. Just a little hole in the wall, very eclectic. It's claim to fame is scenes from Top Gun were filmed there. The service was friendly, and prompt. We had the hot link, spare ribs, brisket, cole slaw, and mac n cheese. The ribs were a little dry but not ruined and everything else was perfect. Sometimes you have to ignore some of the reviews and take a chance.

“Top Gun Bar scene”

So glad we stopped to have a beer here! the food appeared to be classic fried fair with a flair for barbeque! Smaller than we anticipated but well worth the dive stop!

“Great BBQ, fun vibe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2014

Went along for the novelty factor of it being the Top Gun bar. There is plenty of memorabilia to see, as well as a lot of other things from the area. I recommend sitting at the bar if you're in a small group, the vibe was great. Ordered lunch - the best pulled pork sandwich I've had so far in the US. Got talking to one of the regulars at the bar, he had some great stories about the area and just his history in the navy. Highly recommended

“Top Gun Nostalgia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2014

Yes this is really the bar/restaurant with the actual piano. If you don't know what i am talking about you should watch Top Gun now. But even if you aren't a TG fan, this is a great little restaurant tucked in at the intersection of two major roads that has been saved from demolition, no doubt, at least partly because of its fame.

All that said, the food here is wonderful - all the stuff you would expect to find at a Kansas City barbeque. If there are three or more of you (but better if there are 5 or 6), try the sampler - you get a taste of everything for $59 and you can take home what you don't finish. So worth it!

It's the bar scene in the movie top gun. And is located at the Seaport Village Trolley Stop. You can see it from the trolley stop
