Excellent food with a wide range of choices. The presentation of the meal complimented the food. Normally we don't have dessert but when my husband saw the Sorbet Trio pass by we had to order one to share. Would reccommend to anyone wanting to have a memorable dining experience while in San Diego.

We made reservations for a Saturday night. The park was very crowded and although there was valet parking, they were so busy that they discontinued the valet. So after finding a parking place we walked to the restaurant.(not too far)
When we arrived, we were seated right away and our request for a table outside was honored. The waiter and service was outstanding without being over the top. I would have to say that the menu is a little limited but there was enough variety to please everyone at the table.
Our waiter timed everything perfectly. We were given enough time to visit without wondering where the food was. Our dinner arrived and each of us enjoyed what we had ordered. We shared a dessert which was as good as it gets. The menu can be looked up on the internet so you can see what is offered. They specialize in a healthful style of cuisine.
I am a meat and potatoes type of person, but this was excellent.
The price for four people was $220.00 plus tip. This included 2 drinks each plus 2 desserts. We don't usually spend that much for a dinner, but I also felt that the overall experience was worth it for a special occasion.

Convenient to all the attractions in Balboa Park, the Prado offers very good food and service. Sit outside for the garden setting.

Balboa Park has so much to offer – a plethora of beautiful gardens & great museums and of course, THE ZOO. Several of the museums have little cafes and there are snack carts around the park. If you are looking for a nice sit-down meal, The Prado is the place to go. Honestly, we didn’t have high expectations as restaurants located in busy tourist areas often tend to not be particularly good since they don’t rely on repeat business. The Prado is an exception.

Beautifully decorated, very eclectic with large blown glass discs nestled in antler chandeliers, old world style lamps, some with beaded shades. We were promptly seated and soon devoured the flatbread with the delicious hummus – yum!!! Our waiter was very friendly, and genuinely interested in what we had seen at the park, what we were planning to see – and even gave us some suggestions. We found we had some things in common so had a great time conversing with him.

The Market Salad with grilled chicken was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The Grilled Chicken BLT was super tasty. The Ciabatta roll is a bit cumbersome though – I’m not sure why restaurants continue to use these – one must have to practically unlock their jaws to take a bit. Consequently, you tend to eat it as an open-faced sandwich using a knife & fork. But it was very good nonetheless. The sandwich came with chips – some of which were Taro chips. Interesting, not very flavorful, but outside of the box culinary thinking.

We are so glad we opted to have lunch here instead of one of the museum cafes. The food was superb, the ambience nice, great people watching and attentive service. A tad bit pricey, but we will certainly return because the experience was so positive.

After passing up several fast-food places in the park at lunchtime, we came across this restaurant with a fine-dining menu with a lot of variety. The food was well-prepared and we will definitely return some time in the future.
