It was all I wanted it to be. The Wagu terriayki beef is to be savored. The sushi is fresh and well done. It is tucked away from the street and the staff is very attentive.

Very average sushis, especially the rolls! We ordered Chef's platter and 4 different types of rolls. The quality was just very average by global standards - was very disappointed. We ordered fried rice too because sushis were disappointing - same result! Will recommend to avoid this place!

Every time we go to San Diego we go to always go to the same Sushi restaurant. We are creatures of habit. This time around we decided to try Sushi Ota. We made reservations for 7:30 on a Friday night. When we arrived the restaurant was packed and our table waiting was waiting for us. Our waitress Michiyo introduced herself.

We ordered Sake and Beers. For appetizers we ordered Chicken Karaage and the Soft Shell Crab special. Entree ordered was the Chicken Teriyaki dinner. Off the sushi menu we ordered Uni (sea urchin), Eel (unagi), Salmon, Smelt Egg w/Quail egg Sushi, and a Spicy Tuna Hand Roll. We also had the Hamachi (yellowtail) and Salmon Sashimi.

The sushi came out so fast almost too fast (I guess that's what happens when you have 6 sushi chef behind the Sushi Bar). The cooked food took much longer in perspective of the sushi. We were done with the sushi before the Chicken Teriyaki came out, thank goodness we ordered more sushi. All of the Sushi and Sashimi were excellent, some of the best we've had, but you definitely pay a price, not cheap. The cooked food was good. The only disappointment was the TINY $22 Soft Shell Crab.

Our waitress Michiyo was excellent, service felt a little rushed as I noticed they turn tables fairly fast. Atmosphere was typical Japanese Restaurant. The Sushi and Sashimi was excellent. Cooked foods good. Very pricey but worth it!

Stopped in for lunch since I was in route to Petco Park for a baseball game on a Thursday. Recommended by a relative who resides and works in San Diego. Parking in the front was full so I went around back where I located a spot.

We were seated immediately in a booth and ordered the sushi and sashimi ala carte entrees for just over twenty dollars each. Both entree's included miso soup and the quality and freshness of the sashimi was solid.

Service was adequate but the only con was after a couple of hours I was hungry again since the meal was not that filling. I would order a salad on the side next time.

They definitely have a high quality of meat selection. Everything was fresh & that comes with a price - I guess depending on oneself to decide
