Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness, and friendly service. We visited San Diego last year and a highlight was the trip to Phil's BBQ. The queue was about half an hour but boy was it worth it. I had a mix of ribs and chicken and both were fantastic. The sauce is so tatsy and the meat divine. My daughter enjoyed the experience and had a number of sides becuase she is a veggie. Parking was easy, everyone was really friendly and the atmosphere fun. I would recommend to anyone.

“Best BBQ ever”

I have tried many many different BBQ sauces in many many different states... 12 years ago I had the best one in Kansas City; best one until Phil's BBQ came along. I could eat their pork ribs everyday.

“Total worth it!”

The best pork baby ribs I've ever had, and the small sides surprised me, it is a large size side named as small side;-) and the price is super affordable. It is better you be hungry to eat all the food they serve, otherwise you should share the meal with somebody, like I did with my husband!!:)...definitely worth it!

“One of the best in San Diego”

Phil's BBQ is a well known spot in San Diego for some excellent food. The portions are large, and the price is reasonable. Even the small side dishes are enough to be able to share among multiple people. The legendary part of Phil's is not so much the food, but the length of the lines that can form waiting to get in at the Point Loma/ Sports Arena location. Even as fans of the food, we will still refuse to wait an hour or more to eat. On times when you can catch a shorter wait time, it is well worth it. If you have the availability, we've found the best times to generally be able to get in and out are closer to opening for lunch. The restaurant is closed on Monday's.

Phils is a 100% must do when in SD...... Ribs excellent meat just falls off the bone, juicy chicken, try the onion rings and fries it really is a struggle to finish as theres so much on the plate. Tip to avoid the long que eat in the bar side of the restaurant.
