“We really liked the old-school feel.”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

The service was good, and the menu large. I personally had food from the "something for everyone" section. I had grilled chicken with cottage cheese and fresh fruit. It was great tasting and filled me up. I cannot remember what the others in my party had, but they loved it, too. the waiter was fast and attentive. The only issue is that you have to pay for metered parking.

“Good Deli but Don't Order an Omelet”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

We went here with another couple for lunch/brunch. The other 3 people ordered deli type sandwiches and they all said their food were excellent. I however ordered a mushroom and spinach omelet, thinking that they would have great omelets. Ah this was not so. It was the worst omelet that I have ever had. They simply cooked the egg and then stuffed in what appeared to be some frozen cut spinach that they had defrosted and some canned mushrooms. I had also requested cheese and there was a little bit of cheese on one side.

The service, while definitely adequate, was certainly not warm and fuzzy.

“Nice find”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

Went to the city delicatessen this past weekend and it was great! I enjoyed the food - corn beef was a good quality an tasty!! Champagne is 6.00 unlimited on Saturdays and Sunday's plus theyre open until 2am so it's a great alternative to Denny's for the morning hangover. Got a couple desserts to go - the eclair and carrot cake are to die for!

“Wide variety, interesting crowd and late night service in Hillcrest”
Reviewed April 25, 2012

The City Deli purports to be a New York style deli, and mostly succeeds. They have a large menu with all kinds of hot and cold sandwiches, a variety of entrees, and breakfast served all day. They also have microbrew beers on tap, and a variety of bottled beer and wine.

It's right in the heart of the lively Hillcrest neighborhood, and they serve food until late in the evening (after midnight on Friday and Saturday).
