Description: Anthony's Fish Grotto's was established in 1946 by Mama Catherine Ghio. It set and continues to set the standard for fresh seafood dining in San Diego. Mama believed in letting the freshness show through and not using overwrought and fussy preparations. Fresh seafood simply prepared. The waterfront Anthony's sits atop piling over San Diego Bay. The views and sunsets are spectacular. The large dining room can accommodate families and large groups and the Lounge/bar area is perfect for that more intimate dining experience. The menu features an array of seasonal fresh catches along with a multitude of favorites from Fish n Chips to Lobster Tails. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are available.

Anthony's Grotto on Harbor Dr. in San Diego is a great restaurant. We were in San Diego only for 4 days, and search we did for some crab & or lobster. On our last day we said " oh well" let's try this one on the bay. It was excellent, finally got the one thing we were looking for, Crab & Lobster. They do it well. The view was awesome, we were there just at sundown. While it was a little pricey, it was well worth it. It is touristy, but there are so many great things to see, ships, and musems, and restaurants, you should spend an afternoon.

Went with colleagues while in town for a business conference. Had eaten at the Fish Market the night before and wanted to try a different place.
At 8:00 p.m. the place was almost deserted and we thought maybe there might be a problem.
My associate's wife and I both like the red version of clam chowder. if you like your chowder red and spicy, this is the place to order.
Everyone enjoyed their main course. Two of us had shark, which was fixed very simply (which I prefer), the ladies had sole and three-way shrimp respectively, and thought it good.
Our server Javier was very good, although I think the place was getting ready to close for the night and they were trying to do some pre-closing chores which may have distracted him at the end of the meal.

We were recommended to dine here by a friend when traveling to San Diego. It was indeed a very nice restaurant with a great view of the ocean. The food was very good, I had the coconut shrimp which was delicious and my family ate different kinds of fish which were just as delicious as well. The place was very crowded. The service was pretty good. We were too full to try any dessert. though. I would definitely go back there again.

this restaurant has been in business for 65 years, and the quality of the food continues to be great, its fresh and its over the water at the bay, so the view is excellent, the staff carries a badge with their name and years they have worked there, I was amazed of the amount of years some of its team members. try the crab cakes and the chowder.

This 67 year old restaurant is next to the San Diego Cruise Port and is well worth jumping ship for an excellent meal.
The view is beautiful offering outside and indoor seating. We stopped for lunch on Jan. 2, and had an excellent New England Clam Chowder and fish tacos. The menu is extensive and was nicely explained by our waitress, Arlyn. Total bill with wine tax and tip for two came in at $50. The cold slaw with pineapple sauce and the rolls with sundried tomato butter added to a great experience.
