The restaurant is in a quiet neighborhood and parking might be hard to find at times. You might also have to wait a while. But this happens to me in many restaurants. The owner is Italian, so are many members of the staff, ad many of the happy and returning customers (as myself). Their passion for food and love for their work transpires in the overall atmosphere that is just phenomenal. The pizza is the best I have had in the USA and beats quite a few places in Naples, Italy. They will put on top anything you like, but recommend one of the several existing selections. Th other dishes do not do justice to the chef: they are listed below the pizza like they are nothing special. That is not the case. Eggplants or lasagna are in many menus. These one are just perfectly made, not heavy and gentle to the palate. The menu is always perfect, but it gets even better (or maybe more novel and creative) when the nonna is in town: new desserts invented from what is in season and available become a sensation in the mouth. Finally, the wine selection is great with reasonable prices.

This small Italian restaurant is a great find. After a day at the zoo or Balboa Park, this is a wonderful place to dine. It is a bit small and somewhat noisy, but the Italian atmosphere and the Italian servers are charming and fun. We had a Sofia pizza and their ravioli with mushroom sauce. Both were excellent. They have a nice international wine list, or very reasonable priced carafes of house wine. Although not far from Balboa Park, it is a bit tricky to find, so use your GPS or smart phone. Don't miss it!

We were in San Diego for only a few hours and wanted Italian, found this rated as #1, called ahead to give them our name and number in our party, set the GPS to find the location. It's totally in the middle of somewhere in San Diego, some small little area with corner pubs and stores. It's a small restaurant, so even though you get your name in the line-up, still expect a wait. They offer to call you when your table is ready and you can go to the pub across the street to drink and wait.

The food was amazing, authentic, simply Italian cuisine. Even the staff was all Italian. It was such a neat find and totally what I'm looking for when I'm traveling. I hate to get caught up in the trendy tourists traps. Our party had everything from the pizza, to ravioli, osso bucco, salads and dessert. It's reasonably priced and was just fantastic.

One of the best parts, sitting outside in JANUARY. They had heat lamps and it was just so enjoyable. Everyone was friendly and considering the huge wait, they handled everything with as much serenity as they could with the demand.

Would certainly seek out this place again if ever in San Diego.
