Got a chance to start the new year off with a mini getaway and we chose the Residence Inn Del Mar because it would be centrally located to the Safari Park and San Diego. It was an easy 15 minutes to SD, 25 to the Safari park, so the location was not bad.

The breakfast was definitly the highlight of the hotel. everything was fresh and tasted great.
The staff was very friendly
Rooms were clean.

The bad:
Thermostat was kinda wonky. Set it for 70 and either the room was very cold or very hot.
The shower's water labels were reversed. So to get full hot you had to point it to full cold. suffered through a cold shower before asking the front desk. This irked me the most.

We stayed in the two bedroom suite for several nights after Christmas last month. We really enjoyed this new hotel. Check in was a little iffy - credit card machine didn't work, front desk staff seemed a little confused. Only other down side was the shower doors were glass (see through) - not very practical for a family traveling together to be able to use the bathroom while someone is in the shower, and the parking garage had very tight spaces. Nice breakfast daily and cocktail/light dinner in the evening during the work week (6-7:30p). No signs advertising what time the evening reception was at. Not far from nice shopping centers with good restaurants and not far from Torrey Pines golf course.

This hotel is CLEAN. The people are nice. And the continental breakfast was delicious.

I wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

I do have a complaint about trip advisors 200 character minimum on reviews though . I get it, but I've said all I wanted to say.

I recommend the business traveler as well as the vacationer to stay at this Marriott property. The GM here is the best and the staff is awesome. Best place to stay in San Diego bar none. Great location, pleasant atmosphere, the Mix Social on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights are great.

Fairly basic business hotel. Rooms include a kitchenette and small sitting area in addition to the bed and bath. Staff was friendly and efficient. Room was clean and well maintained, though the refrigerator and heating vent were on the loud side.

Clientele was interesting for a business hotel - ran into a biker and a recovering face lift patient in the elevators!
