Humphreys Concerts by the Bay
Attraction details
Reviewed July 19, 2014

Just attended a concert last night. Music was great & of course the setting is beautiful, however- the bad seating makes everything else bad too. Seats are tied together and the rows are so close anyone over 5' 8" has their knees in the back of the person in front of you. The seats are hard plastic no matter the price, numb butt by intermission. There is no way anyone can get in or out of the row with out everyone filing out of the row letting person in or out then filing back in. This happened twice for our row during the concert and several times for the row in back. Very disturbing during during a concert.
Needless to say I'll never go back nor will I recommend it at $67.00 a pop.

Humphreys is such a great intimate venue. I hate large crowds so these concerts are just perfect. The grounds are amazing & they always have an awesome lineup.

Saw Steely Dan, and of course, it was great. Outside, by the marina. Just a great ambiance and the weather is always perfect. Chair seating, some people bring their cushions, blankets to be more comfy. I love this place, but it is hard to get tickets. Usually have to get them from the original buyers.

If you're going to go to Humphreys, it's best to really really REALLY want to see the artist. Acoustics are great, BUT. From several experiences: Bear in mind that depending on the artist, but quite often, Humphreys attracts an affluent, older crowd with more than its share of arrogant drunks. Ushering is generally useless - they can't wait to herd you into your tiny plastic seats, but aren't any help getting people who've been camped, drinking, in the aisle seats to move their knees and let you in. For the price of the tickets relative to other venues in SoCal, it really should be a better experience. Best advice is to get aisle seats so you can move away from other people and not be trapped in a seat that could get claustrophobic for a sixth grader. And there are NO bathrooms - yikes! Just one with a long line and port-o-lets that are, inexplicably, outside the venue so you can't use them and come back in. Really, really detracts from the experience.

For you folks that will have a chance to see Il Volo appearing close to you, you are in for the treats of treats. These young men are most personable as well as having a superior harmony. Their give and take in their lyrics are the best. My advice is to grab tickets and load the wagon. My wife, Terry, and I were so impressed that we vow to go to another of their concerts soon. If you have the chance, and don't take it, you will be the ones that lose.
