Owner description: Mission Brewery, located in the East Village of Downtown San Diego, next to Petco Park, has been brewing commercially for over six years. With 26 National and International awards under its belt, Mission is considered one of the top craft breweries in San Diego County. Mission is open to the public with a 3000’ tasting room in the historic Wonder Bread building. The Wonder Bread building was built in 1894 and has the architectural bones of the original design with wood work that cannot be duplicated today. The entire brew house is on display and at the right time, you can catch the brewers working their magic with this stainless steel beauty. Or, join your friends in our bottling viewing area and get your fill of watching your favorite beer being bottled fresh and ready for you to take home. Tours are available on Friday and Saturday from one o'clock to seven o'clock and on Sundays from one o'clock to four o'clock. The tours run on the hour and are a first come, first serve basis. And don’t miss a chance to play on our competition length 1930’s shuffle board.Mission Brewery is dog friendly and kid friendly. Large and small parties are welcome and private parties are available.

“Excellent beer at great prices”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

If you're a fan of IPAs and stouts, this is the place. No frills, no nonsense, you're basically in the front of the brewery with bench seating and a high tables. Occasionally they do yoga classes as well. They also have a tournament-sized shuffleboard table where I have lost many a game :P

Yes the location may scare some people...if you're afraid of people who don't make $100K a year. I've read some of the reviews here. But I lived in San Diego over 3 years on and off. I never had a homeless guy harass me or my friends. I've been to Mission Brewery at least 10 times. It's always great and vintage SD.

No fee to get in, the tour gives you a beer for "price of admission". There's a bunch of food trucks that pull up every weekend as well.

“Lost my business”
Reviewed July 1, 2014 via mobile

We weren't sure where it was so we called and called and called. Nobody would pick up the phone so they clearly didn't want our business that badly.

“Definitely a brewery to visit!”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

General Goods: Awesome beer; friendly staff; lots of room inside; kind offering of complimentary snacks; shuffleboard table and some board games; and a cool look inside!

General Bads: Not a great location to tool around (it's in an area surrounded by parking lots, idustrial buildings and warehouses, bus stations, and the city's "Tent City" area for the homeless); I haven't tried going during games, but apparently parking can be hell when the stadium is active; perhaps it's an illusion caused by the huge size inside and long long bar, but I think it takes a bit too long to be served either because it's understaffed or not obvious enough that your supposed to order at a certain spot at the bar.

This place is awesome/standard/alright all at the same time. I always want to avoid drinking and driving, so the location is a shame for me, because I don't want to hang out in that area, but maybe it's getting better.... As far as many micro-brews, they have the standards: food truck grub option, growlers, t-shirts, etc... What steals the show for me, they have some excellent stouts! I've been on a bit of a stout kick for the past two years, and so far, in all of San Diego, for me, they have the best stout! The Dark Seas Imperial Stout. Very Rich! Have fun!

“Watch where you park.”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

Mission Brewing not only has tasty beer, the tasting room is large and comfortable. It also has lots of seating. I love, love, love this place.

FYI, don’t park on the street in front of the brewery on Padre game days – you WILL get towed. I work in a building nearby and we watch those tow trucks pull in and pull every car out. Park on National Ave or Commercial Street if you are within 3 hours of a baseball game.
