“Jolly Good Food!”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

This place is a gem! Located just one block off the beach, Mad Dogs is about as authentic as it gets for great European food. Scramblers (I chose the veggie one day, and aligator the next), Bangers, Chips and Mad Dogs are all great fare. People watching during breakfast hours is also a treat from the outside patio tables. Reasonable prices.

“Great Coffee & Lovely Staff”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

This place is steps away from the ocean, and was close to our hotel. We didn't sample the food, but the coffee and latte we had were so great we came back the next day for more. We very much enjoyed chatting with the barista with the English accent as well, and I'm sure we'll be back if we're ever in San Diego again.

“Great little restaurant!”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

I am a big fan of hot dogs and sausages and was so excited to find this place within walking distance of our hotel. We stayed in San Diego three days and came here three times. The first day we ordered their sausages - we had the andouille and spanish chorizo. The chorizo was okay, but the andouille was excellent. I regret I was not able to try their frankfurter.

We came the next day for breakfast. The breakfast sandwiches were good. Both the breakfast sandwich and sausages are served in rolls they bake there. I thought the bread was better with the sausages, as it overpowered the breakfast a bit. Definitely order bacon with the breakfast sandwich as the crispy texture and saltiness really add to it.

What we really loved, though, was the crumpets! You can tell they are baked fresh. We ordered one with strawberry jam and this was the highlight of our breakfast experience.

My friend is a big tea fanatic and won't usually order tea at other places because they don't "make it correctly." I convinced her to order some here and she absolutely loved it. We actually bought some tea leaves from them to take home.

The thing that really makes this little place standout is the service. All their staff members are friendly and helpful, it really made us want to go back.

“Yummy hot dogs!”
Reviewed May 14, 2012

We went to Mad Dogs for lunch and each had a hot dog. They have quite the selection of hot dogs and all the toppings you would want. The buns are good and their home made chips are yummy. The portion is just right for lunch time and the prices are good. They have a few tables set up outdoors which we took advantage of. We meant to come back for breakfast, which I read was fantastic, but we ran out of time. Their gelato selection looked great too!

“deliciousness”
Reviewed May 3, 2012

I love this place ..its one block from the ocean/beach, open early, decent menu, delicious gelato and free wifi. If you are in PB for a cup of coffee with some english breakfast deliciousness..walk right in!!!

The things i recommend here are : the scrambled eggs with or without meat (i prefer the veggie scramble)...with their most delicious mad dogs sauce , the freshly squeezed orange juice and the acai bowl. They have a huge selection of sauces but i still recommend the mad dogs sauce (it has a thousand island base ). And if you like crumpets..you are in for a treat.

They also serve a variety of dogs..but i personally prefer their scrambles. They have a decent coffee and its just a very chill place to sit and sip a coffee or eat your breakfast.
