“Ramada gas lamp district San Diego”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

My wife and I just spent a week at the Ramada, in the Gas Lamp district of San Diego and really liked it. It is a quaint 100 year old hotel. The location was great. We were within walking distance of the Seaport Village and the USS Midway. It was a bit of a walk for those who like to walk or a very short cab ride. Balboa park, the zoo and museums were about a $12 cab ride or bus ride away.

The front desk staff were incredible. I doubt if I've ever seen friendlier or more helpful hotel personnel. The rooms are a little small, not surprising for a historic building. The first night we had some noisy neighbors but, we always travel with ear plugs and did find them useful. The rest of the week we didn't need them. We were also just a block or two from some really terrific restaurants. We especially liked Escape Seafood.

I stayed at this hotel for business reasons. I was interested in a valued, convenient hotel in the downtown area and the hotel provided these; its location is excellent. The hotel is very old, but more than acceptable. The lobby is very nice, while the room was a bit outdated and should be refurbished. Staying at the lower floors can be noisy; the vent/air conditioning system is noisy as well. The old elevators are very slow. A wonderful view of downtown and bay is offered from the rooftop terrace. The staff is very friendly and helpful. An excellent restaurant/bar open 24hours is connected to the hotel.

Dear Guest , Thank you for the review. We are a clean friendly reasonably priced hotel in one of the best locations downtown . Our roof top is a treasure , our restaurant "Brian's 24" is one of the most popular downtown . Our rooms were remodeled 2012 with custom made for us furniture . The majority of our rooms are 25% smaller than a traditional American hotel room, our elevators are old and slow. We are located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, summer weekends and special events can be noisy. The lobby is pretty, the staff is caring and friendly . We have lots of larger rooms but you must visit the hotel's website link right here on TripAdvisor to see and book them .We hope to see you again in the near future and we thank you for your support.
