I stay there for business. Good location, very central. Close to bars and restaurants. There a shopping mall close by. The room is clean and functional. I recommend this place to all of my collegues. Even if the price is very high , the valet service is wonderful , thanks Christopher B ecerill for his help .

I cannot say enough positives about the staff at the Westin. Every front desk clerk recognized us by name, houseman (on night of 2/16) was quick, courteous, and kind while assisting us at 2:30am after my daughter got sick. The room service attendant (young lady blonde hair) the morning of 2/17 was so kind and quick to ensure everything was correct for our order, and even went out of her way to bring my daughter ginger ale and crackers when she heard she wasn't feeling well. Valet & Bell staff were fast and efficient when moving guests in and out. Every Westin staff member showed excitement about assisting guests, (and our dog too!) We will definitely return to the Westin Gaslamp when we return to San Diego. Top notch all around!

Like most Westins, this hotel is very nice and in a great location, next to Horton Plaza and the Gaslight District. I really like the design of the hotel. The public areas are nicely decorated and very comfortable. Check in is nice and quick. The staff is well trained and very happy to help in any way. My disappointment with this Westin was entirely due to the room. It is a great design but clearly worn to the limit. The carpet is stained and the upholstery is worn. Thankfully, work is about to start that will include rehabs to the rooms. There is a letter in each room that details what will be happening through the rest of 2013. So be forewarned that during this period you may be inconvenienced and you may or may not get a newly rehabbed room.

A growing irritation to me at hotels is their lip service to the environment. I am constantly seeing the little notes in hotels that if you do not want the towels washed just hang them up. Then the cleaning personnel come in and change out all the towels. So much for the environment. At this hotel there is a sign in each bathtub that one of their two signature shower heads is turned to save water. But, sure enough, in my room and in every one of my co-workers rooms, both shower heads were wide open. Of course, it is no big deal to shut off the one that should already be off, but why do hotels try to convince us they are concerned about the environment and yet they do the exact opposite of what they brag about doing. It is hypocritical and leaves a bad impression. In my future reviews I will devote more space to these issues.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Westin. i booked online through Expedia and got a great rate. I had read reviews about other options for parking, besides the $36/night for valet, but still decided to make it as easy as possible for my guy and I so I just went with valet. The check in process was quick and easy. The hotel is laid out nicely. We stayed on the 6th floor facing south, which was a pretty view. I'm sure it would be gorgeous on a higher floor, so try to recommend that with your booking. The rooms were appointed nicely. I had read reviews about pluming problems and was a little concerned about that, but everything worked great. The room was well laid out although I didn't love the decorations. The wallpaper is a bland tan, the carpet gray, bedding is white... it was very boring. However, the room was very clean and the shower.... amazing! Very luxurious. The room also came with a safe and mini fridge. We used the hot tub one night, which was nice but needed some attention from the cleaning staff. The pool was not heated; the gym had a good variety of equiptment. Plus, the location was amazing! We didn't use our car at all... restaurants, bars, clubs etc are all within walking distance and we took the bus to the zoo. Super easy! All in all, a good choice staying here and I will return.

We’re so glad you enjoyed our ideal downtown location, right in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter and just steps from amazing dining, shopping and entertainment.

The Westin Gaslamp Quarter successfully completed a $25 million dollar transformation in June of 2012. We completely renovated our guestrooms, meeting space, fitness studio and lobby. We are one of the first Westin hotels to showcase the new Westin design.

We do offer packages that include complimentary breakfast, parking and more. Our overnight valet parking price is competitive in the market and on the lower end of similar hotels in the city.

Next time you book, enjoy our best rate guaranteed when you reserve at westin.com.

We hope to welcome you back to San Diego soon!

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Westin Gaslamp Quarter this weekend. The lobby and rooms have recently been remodeled so it was great to stay in an updated room. Also, this hotel is basically attached to a mall and is within walking distance to tens of bars and restaurants so it's a great place to relax for the weekend.

The check-in process was relatively smooth. There was a dance competition going on at the hotel the weekend we visited, but you would not know there was an event going on as the hotel is well laid out. We booked the lowest costing room but the front desk clerk was kind enough to upgraded us to a room facing the ocean.

- parking is expensive, so we used the lot next door which charged $10 per day.
- the breakfast buffet covers the essentials; the staff is cheerful and attentive.
- the hotel is close to the convention center
- we would stay here again.
