After only being in the USA for a couple of days we found the location extremely easy to get to and from our different tours. The room easily accommodated my family of 2 adults and 3 children. The room was well looked after by house keeping. The staff were all very helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay, we wish we could stay longer.

No matter how good the rooms are (and they were nice). No matter how friendly most of the people are (and they were outstanding). If a hotel confirms in writing a certain room, are sold out of that room when you arrive and are flippant about it when you point it out, it ruins the entire experience and deserves a low rating and a review that points it out.
This hotel believes they are so important and in demand that they do not have to offer the basic courtesy of honoring their confirmation or even say a simple "I am sorry" if they cannot. I hope they lose business because of it.

OK - I've read the other reviews, now listen to someone who's stayed at this hotel every year for the past six years. It's perfect, no it's not the Four Seasons, or Ritz Carlton, but considering the location and proximity to all the Long Range fishing fleet at Fisherman's landing, as well as Sea World, and a $5. cab to the San Diego airport. My favorite part are the clean rooms, and the friendly staff. The property is older, but they are making serious upgrades every year. A new lobby, new wing of more upscale rooms, and the soon to be completed fitness room will be perfect. I contacted Jodie she handles events, etc. because we I needed 10 rooms, I have never had anyone handle some of my complicated requests with such grace, and efficiency. Take it from me if you are going out fishing out of Fisherman's landing do yourself a favor and spend the night, rest up, walk across the street to the landing. Or if you are looking for a hotel that is convenient to SAN airport look no further and thank me later. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. When you book ask for the new rooms...awesome! The bar opens at 4pm and they put out snacks at 5pm, very friendly service. Yes there is a heated pool and spa. Take care.

This hotel is oddly laid out, it looks as if sections were built as property was acquired. so the lobby is not convenient to all parts of the property. The parking is limited and not always convenient to what ever section you are staying in. the room was clean and the front desk staff was helpful.

Dear Annette A: Thank you so much for your comments. Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconveniences you experienced during your stay. I am sorry to hear that you find our property's lay out to be odd. As it is true that our property is a little bit spread out and laid out a little bit differently from other hotels guests are accustomed to. I am happy to announce that we would be undergoing renovation starting this fall and expect to be completed early 2014. We are also in the process of putting a lot of signs and directions all over the property for it to be less confusing. We hope to see you again during a future visit to San Diego. 1st of all, too expensive for an old hotel
2nd, too noisy during the nights, and, with what they charge you for one night, at least they could have had installed double crystal windows to avoid noise, don´t you agree?
3rd, not even free coffee at the lobby? Ok, no free breakfast, I know, you want MORE money from us, and you think all of us are rich guys, but, hey, at least some coffee to start the day.
4th, room service takes way too long

I have stayed at Holiday Inn everytime I get the chance, and always enjoyed my stay, its just this one that is a shame.
The location at San Diego Bay is impressive, so its pretty much justified to try to make some improvements on the place, wouldn´t you agree?

Cheers

Dear The_Darth_Fruit: Thank you for taking the time to write your comments regarding your stay at our hotel back in 2012. I am happy to announce that we would be undergoing renovation of our buildings to include all case goods and we expect completion by early 2014. We also just opened a new building that includes 57 guest rooms. With regards to the breakfast, we are a full service hotel and we do have a restaurant on property and all our rooms have coffeemakers. As indicative of the hospitality industry, rates vary depending on season and availability; thereofre, rates can be very competitive or deemed high in comparison to other properties. We will always do our best to achieve the best possible rates for our clients. From reading your comments, I understand how upset you are, and I thank you for your candid comments. I hope, however, that you would give us another opportunity to showcase our hotel. we booked on hotels.com and got room for 100 per night. brand new room, CLEAN, pool was great and bar right beside it. Lots of parking. We were in town for 2 nights and would look to stay here again. the old part of the hotel is a wee bit dodgey, but this place I was put in is outstanding and the service was great. book online as we saved $40 even as we booked another room while standing in the lobby and online. Wifi is available and fast and free. Hotel has shuttle to airport. Hotel is located near point loma, west side of airport, not in downtown. Older holiday inn on the water is now a wyndam brand so don't make the mistake.

Room Tip: ask to have room in the new tower not in the old part of the hotel.

Since my last stay an extirely new 4 story building has been built. The rooms are large and spacious, with sound proof windows for a nice quite sleep. I would suggest that when making reservations require them to put you in the new building. The rest of the property is supposed to be completely remodeled by mid Jan. 2014.

The restaurant on the property has excellent breakfast. And just down the street is the Fisherman's Market where you can purchase food to be cooked on site and with out side seating. Food is priced at 8 to 12.50 for plates and the seafood is excellent. The area across the street from the hotel is where the fishing boats go out and is interesting to walk around early in the morning or around 5-7 at night. Area is very safe, and very clean.

Room Tip: Suggest the new tower with a front bayside view floors 2 through 4.
