“Beautiful grounds”
Reviewed July 22, 2007

Beautiful grounds and a very relaxed atmosphere made this very enjoyable. Stayed for 7 nights with 2 kids ages 4 and 1. If you have little kids make sure you reserve a first floor room - the rails on the balconies are wide enough for little bodies to slip through. Service was great, everyone was friendly, and daily breakfast was included. A good value for the money. Rancho Bernardo is a little removed from most San Diego attrations and the weather is warmer, but this resort is great for a relaxing stay.

We had a quick trip to San Diego, and decided to stay at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, due to the location and proximity of a few business meetings scheduled. We enjoyed the resort very much. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and I believe all the rooms have been renovated. Our room was beautiful, the beds were very comfortable, and extremely clean. For those of you playing golf, the rates are very, very reasonable after 4 p.m. All in all, it was enjoyable, and I would stay there again.

What a plesant surprise for my Boyfriend and I! We stayed here for a wedding we were attending in San Diego. We thought it was a little far, but WELL WORTH the extra miles. So relaxing, beautiful decor, lovely staff and clientele. The rooms were HUGE! The best part? Seperate adult pool and kids pool! Never felt like I was going to get splashed when I just wanted to relax. It was a big old school for younger folk, but I happen to enjoy that, so it worked out for us. The only con was the restaurant (not El Bizcocho) had terrible wait svc. But we were so relaxed, it hardly mattered. Ohh and we got an amazing deal on a travel website for the room! Try off peak - and you'll be surprised what you pay!

From the moment you enter the property and enjoy the rambling gardens, blazing fireplaces, cozy nooks in which to relax, and personalized service (EVERYONE knows your name) you'll know you're in for a treat. The rooms are small but supremely comfortable. Great attention is paid to detail, and the beds are enough to sink into all day. The restaurant, though, El Bizcocho, is not to be missed. The meal there was the best I've ever eaten. My husband and I, who enjoy travelling to eat, agree regularly that the meal there was the best we've ever eaten. We opted for the tasting menu, a wise choice, and were surprised again and again by the fresh, elegantly prepared and presented, and creative dishes. You won't regret your stay, or your meal. Enjoy!

I had read previous reviews of this hotel and I just wonder if their eyes were closed or had just never experienced a true resort before, but I had asked for a "newly renovated" room and I supposedly got one. The furniture was old and dated, the bedspreads and linens were far from luxurious in fact i equated them to my grandmothers spare bedroom style wise. The hotel is so far away from San Diego it should never be confused as near the city, its in a residential neighborhood way off the beaten path with nothing close in walking distance, a car is a must here as a taxi ride from SAN is over $60.00! There are plenty of luxurious hotels in San Diego so if travelling to the area definately take a pass on Rancho Bernardo Inn and head for the W San Diego a much better choice and value for money paid

This was our second stay at the hotel. The first was our honeymoon night which was also great. The service was excellent in all ares that we encountered.

The room was very nice with some modern touches. We ate at their premier resturant, El Bizcocho for dinner and brunch the next day. The food and service were top notch for both meals. Pricing was reasonable for the quality.

On more than one occasion the staff knew my name. I was always surprised by that.

Couldnt ask for more in a hotel/resort. I reserved this hotel for my parents that were visiting and they were thrilled with the ambiance and friendly helpful service. The entrance to the hotel is only the beginning to this wonderfully decorated resort. The decorations- especially the water fountains and fireplaces make this resort have a homely sophisticated feel. The rooms were nice especially my room that had a balcony overlooking the pool and hot tub.
My only regret is that I didnt get to play a round of golf or stay long enough to participate in one of the resort events(the s'mores bar sounded good).
I would reccomend this resort in a heart-beat.
