I live in the SD county. My husband is a Retired Vet. We love to bringing our Children and Grandkids here all year round. It's a Vacstay for us and will visiting the on base Beach Cottages in Dec. It's family time for us,even though the beach will be cooler than summertime. I love staying on base. It reminds me of our active duty days. (23 years). I miss that. Enough of that. it's No. 1 for the active troops and their families too. Call way ahead of time. It's hard to get a reservation sometimes. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Love that.
Going up to the Air Strip is a very powerful thing. Jets and Helicoptors WOW!

Room Tip: Top floor awesome views, but those who can't get one, they a rooftop area with sofas, and comfy ch...

If jet noise now and then as a Super Hornet practices touch and goes or squadrons of helicopters take off and land bother you... forget this place. But if you grew up as I did with the sound of the military then the occasional sound was sweet. Sitting out on the end of Coronado with the beach at our toes and Hotel Del Coronado on the horizon and not much between us, this was a delight. The hotel is new and the rooms large enough to have two queens and plenty of space. The rooms with kitchens are quite large and all are well equipped. It has the feel of a top line Holiday Inn. Breakfast is ok and free. The pool however, was about 64 degrees as was the ocean. Very attentive staff.

Room Tip: Plenty of ocean view rooms, but be sure to ask ahead of time.

We had heard such great things about this brand new lodge... Then we showed up for check in and they put us in the old lodge- with no view, old decor and bedding. It was clean, thank goodness, but very disappointing.

Very beautiful place to stay. Rooms are spacious. Beautiful wide beach on one side of the hotel and a view of San Diego across the bay on the other side. Would love to stay here again real soon! Very quiet despite all the military and commercial air traffic so close by.

Room Tip: Amazing hotel. So beautiful and clean. Beach on one side and view of San Diego across the bay on the...

The hotel is right on the beach on Coronado Island. The beach is awesome, and the views are spectacular! The rooms are great. They have 3 types of rooms. 1 is the $85 room with 2 queen beds, microwave and mini-fridge. 2 is the $95 room with 2 queens and a kitchen. 3 is the suite which has 1 queen, 2 twins (bunkbed) and a kitchen and living room with a pull out couch. The kitchens are complete with full fridge, cook top, sink, bar area, and kitchen table. The kitchen also includes 6 place settings, basic utensils, and some pots and pans, toaster. I'd recommend you bring a good non-stick pan since the pots and pans supplied are stainless steel. Also bring things like grill tongs, or spatulas if you plan to use one of the many grills on the beach, and if you grill steak you may want to bring steak knives. Otherwise fairly well stocked kitchen. They have a coffee maker, but it's too small, only makes 2 cups. I'll bring my own next time. The "suite" consists of 1 queen, 1 bunk bed (2 twin beds stacked), which are in the same room as the queen. If you have 2 kids it's perfect. The living room has a pull out couch and 2 chairs, TV and wall unit, on top of the full kitchen described above. We had a suite along with an $85 adjoining room. We had 3 couples and one brought their 2 1/2 year old and 6 month old boys (our Grandsons). The kids wanted a little privacy with the two boys, but still have access to the suite and kitchen, and it worked out perfectly! The Navy Lodge can't guarantee you'll have adjoining rooms but of course they make their best effort. We were very fortunate! The rooms were facing the water and views were wonderful. The staff was helpful and friendly. There's a convenience store to the right of the front desk that's open 24/7. They have basics for toiletries, convenience foods like frozen entrees you can microwave, soda pop, beer, wine and alcohol (must have military ID to purchase the alcohol) and other things like napkins, paper plates, kids toys, candy, chips, etc. They even have Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. They have a complimentary continental breakfast, coffee, cereal, muffins, bread for toast, standard condiments, milk and juice. Nothing fancy and it gets kind of busy there. But if you eat light in the morning it's perfect. of course the base has places to eat, McDonald's, Subway, snack bar at the bowling alley, Officer's Club, etc. The base has a very well stocked commissary too. I recommend you purchase or bring some charcoal and BBQ on the beach. There are an abundance of grills around the Navy Lodge area to use. Don't forget a lighter for the coals! If you are sponsoring someone besides folks with ID cards you must fill out a form and send it to the security office for the base. You can request the form at this e-mail address: "NBC_ACCESS@NAVY.MIL". Just fill it out and send it back and they will place your guests on the access list and they will be able to gain access to the base without you being present. The only exception is foreign nationals. My son-in-law is from France, so I was required to be with him whenever he came and went thru the gate. Otherwise it was painless.

Room Tip: I think any room is great. If you have small children, request a room near the playground they have...
