“Best coffee in San Diego”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

This place is actually a kiosk in the UTC mall as well as a downtown brick and mortar coffee shop on C street. The crepes are very good but the coffee is suberb. The coffee used is an Italian roast, which in my opinion give the richest, most flavorful coffee complete with a beautiful crema design on top. I could easily drink a quart of the cafe latte at one sitting. A great treat for those who like coffee. The place also makes a very good chai late, for those who prefer tea.

“Good coffee, terrible location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

I was excited to try elixir bar b/c I read good reviews and it was close to our hotel; however, we quickly decided to take our coffee & go instead of sitting on the street as the neighborhood was not so nice. If Elixir were a few blocks over, I think they would do an even better business.

“Excellent Latte!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2011

Visited this place, and loved the coffee! Elixir has a good selection of muffins, smoothies and pastries. They are known in town for their Crepes (fruits, nutella, breakfast with eggs and other options are available. It is not a big place, but there are a few chairs to sit and enjoy your coffee. Baristas know how to do a good latte, nice roasted flavor, and good crema! Has a very similar system like Starbucks by having a Tall, Grande and 20oz drinks. Tall latte was about $3.00 (including tax). Located in downtown, closed on Sundays. Very friendly staff!

“Excellent quality breakfast place. Very limited selection though”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2011

They only serve couple of variations of crapes (savory and sweet), several smoothies and some sweets. They do server very good coffee though - probably the best in the area.

Virtually no sitting inside but they have several tables outside.

However, if you don't need fancy settings or huge selection but just want a quick, TASTY and inexpensive breakfast - this place is for you. A crape with coffee will run you around $5-6.

There are not too many decent breakfast places around so this was a very nice find for us - we ate there 2 mornings out of our 3 night stay and were not disappointed.
