For most of our trip in San Diego, we did not rent a car, but still wanted to see the highlights of San Diego. The Old Town Trolley Tours are the best way to do this.

We were picked up near our hotel in Little Italy and enjoyed riding out to Old Town where we spent a couple of hours before taking in other major points of the city, like Balboa Park, Coronado, the Harbor area, and so forth before getting back to Little Italy.

You can get off at any stop. Just be mindful of the last pickup time at your stop. Our driver told us about people who get stranded because they didn’t pay attention. The trolley is not like a coach bus tour that you hire. Its a hop on and hop off. It’s an optional mode of transportation that happens to give fun facts along the way. You will get left with the assumption that you are at your stop and forgotten about, so be mindful. If you do stay within the schedule, the trolleys run roughly every 30 minutes so you can catch the next trolley to you next destination. Plan your stops accordingly.

The trolleys are mostly open, so have a sweater or jacket especially when crossing Coronado Bridge. Not much to block the wind unless the plastic comes down, but then you lose a clear view for sightseeing.

Note: You will need your ticket prior to boarding. They do not sell tickets on the trolley. You can get one at a station IF it is open by the stop. The stands in Old Town are generally open, but many of the city stops were not. I found a special online and took advantage of that. I showed my email confirmation of purchase and that worked fine for the both of us.

Definitely recommend.

We loved our tour. It had been many years since we were in San Diego so this was the perfect way to dodge the traffic, see the sights and hear all the stories about the city. We had Captain Bob and he was wonderful...... made it all come to life with its history. Highly recommend this - great way to see something, wait for another trolley and charge off to the next site.

My first time in the city, and this tour was very useful to locate and identify the main attractions that is worth visiting later (such as Balboa park). To get the most out of it, you have to be in the early bus and get off at the most interesting stops. I had to go on a not so busy day so I could go up and down without problems. Very nice drivers and the staff in general was very cordial. I recommend it as a quick and safe way to get to know San Diego in a short time.

We enjoyed the beach tour to La Jolla. Our driver James was personable and very safe. I can’t vouch for their other drivers/guides, but James was top notch.

We didn’t have much time in San Diego unfortunately so we took the trolly tour for the day, and what an excellent choice it was! It’s agreat way of seeing the city and some of the major attractions. Our stop was just round the corner from our hotel hard rock and the first driver was Jack, who was absolutely brilliant, great laugh and very knowledgeable without being boring. We got of at the old town stop where you all change trolleys for lunch and said our goodbyes to Jack as didn’t expect to see him again. After an excellent lunch and a look round we boarded the trolley to see Jack again, which made our day as he recognised us as the Scottish folk. We travelled down to harbour area.
It’s a great service and thoroughly recommend it, and if you’re lucky enough to get Jack stay on the bus for the laugh, he’s a great asset to the company and would book again purely for him!

My husband and I always take these trolley tours because they are simply the best way to see the city. You can hop on and hop off knowing that you'll always have a ride from and to the next location. The drivers are always nice and well informed of the city. Going over the Coronado Bridge in the trolley is especially interesting. Being in the open air trolley going over the bridge allows you to experience the smell of the ocean air and the breezes traveling through. It's way better to cross the bridge in a trolley than a car.

We did the whole circuit without hopping off because of bad weather, but during the second circuit the weather improved and we stopped at several of the stops. Very good value for money and the drivers are very knowledgeable.

We go on to the Old Town Trolley at Seaport village.
Was good way to be introduced to San Diego. Balboa park where there is alot of muesums. Little italy looks amazing for food.
Old town looks amazing for mexican food. You can get on and off the trolley they come every 20 mins.
The driver Patricia was good at giving information on the areas.
Price is $39 per adult. If you get a 2 day pass you pay only $29 for the 2nd day.
Great day out.

When I got on, the trolley was packed and we didn’t have room to pick up some of the passengers at the first two hop ons. It cleared quite a bit at Coronado and then smooth sailing from there.
