We've been Black Angus regulars until Thanksgiving...going out for turkey for the first time in 33 years on Thanksgiving Day. 6:30 p.m. reservation and "We've run out of turkey, sorry"...but only after we had been seated and presented our turkey discount coupon. First table offered, next to the kitchen. Two requests were required for silverware at the next table. Bread arrived after the salad, with the entree. No wine glasses available for our bottle of Thanksgiving wine, only undersized chain-restaurant champagne flutes. No explanation offered, nor any good-faith "dessert's on us" offer. Only the full-price menu. No Thanksgiving turkey dinner for our family, thanks to Black Angus. Such a disappointment for a restaurant acted like it had never seen a Thanksgiving.

We have gone here occasionally for years. Yes, the decor could use upgrading - it has not changed ever. The plus is that each table is separated with upholstered dividers that cut down restaurant sounds and other voices. At other restaurants it is sometimes so frustrating to try and have a conversation when there is so much noise that we can't be heard. Good steaks/prime rib, good side dishes. We use coupons to save quite a lot.

Never had a bad meal at Black Angus, you can always count on great food and a great value there. The service at this location is hit and miss. We eat there fairly frequently, and the service is generally just slightly better than average. The main drawback for this location is the restaurant itself. It's been there for decades, and probably hasn't had much of a remodel since. We love the big private booths. But beyond that, the bar, the decor, the cleanliness of the restaurant is just tired. They don't clean, sweep and bus the tables as frequently as I'd like, you'll often see crumbs on the carpet and some booths waiting to be cleaned up. The bathrooms here are horrendous, basically barely a step up from Qualcomm Stadium at a football game. The bar was out of style fifteen years ago. But the food is always good, so we overlook most of this and come back every few months for what is typically a delicious, memorable meal and a great value.

I've been here several times for happy hour and for dinner, a couple of times for lunch. Let's start with the bar and it's area. They offer a happy hour and it's "just OK" with the standard fare and a light pour in the drinks. This is typical of chain restaurants compared to your local dive bars. The bartenders have always been attentive and pretty much on the ball. Major irritant is that if you decide to eat in the bar area, expect adults to haul their kids in to the east area where it is not the main dining room and you would swear it's part of the bar. Guess it's not and of course on the last couple of times I was there, the kids were running around and making quite a bit of noise without any adult supervision. Are you parents listening? Just because you decide to drop a few kids from your crotch doesn't give you permission to shuck your duties and discipline them. Try it sometime.

Food: Dinner is "just OK," but trust me on this, there are better steak houses by far. The Black Angus is nothing special even with their coupons which are distributed weekly. For the money and quality, I prefer Bully's. The appetizer selections here are taken directly from bags that were in their freezer. It's just nothing special, more like the things you can get from the freezer at Costco. I've had several different cuts of meat here and some have been very good, most were just average, and a couple were tasteless and tough. I'm sorry, but I just don't think it's worth the money. The lunch menu is a lot smaller but the prices are worth what you get. For me, this is a bargain.

Service: It has varied quite a bit but lately we've had very good service. However, the last time we were told we would have a wait of about 30 minutes to be seated in the main dining room. Really? The parking lot was only half full and so I sort of took a look around once I was served my drink in the bar. There were a lot of empty tables. Strange but true and then there was that issue with the three tables of kids in the bar area that I'm not going to let pass without another mention.

All in all, the place is "just OK" and you can do better and a lot worse.

We go to this restaurant at least 2 times a month. We very often use the coupons we get from the Newspaper or e mail. Most times we can expect the best of the food and the service
