Dinner on a Sunday night: shrimp taccones. They were stuffed full with shrimp and were excellent, for minimal price. Waitress was fantastic: very helpful and pleasant. Chef (owner?) came to check that meal was satisfactory. We watched him set up the plating, so already knew he was meticulous about his food. All in all, a pleasant surprise. The place is tiny and easy to miss, so use your GPS: it's worth the search.

My husband and I stayed in the Gas Lamp district and were looking for casual seafood. This truly was an awesome find! We read the menu which led us to try the Sea Bass Tacone. Probably one of the very best "fish tacos" we have ever had. I hate to call it a taco though because it really was not this. It was exactly as the menu said "The signature Escape Tacone is a fish filled, perfectly grilled tortilla with home-made roasted pumpkin seed slaw, lime pickled jicama and onions, daikon radish sprouts, and house-made smoked chili avocado sauce." YUM!!The service was fantastic. Lawrence was on top of all of our needs along with the other diners. You need to try this place as you will not be disappointed!

Mix of mexican food with seafood. The menu is not big, but you can choose your favourite fish and have a taco or other delicious food. It is in the heart of the Gaslamp district and the prices are very convenient. The atmosphere is relaxed and nice decoration. The people there were great and they were very helpful and fast.

This is a moderately priced resto in the heart of the Gas Lamp district with a mostly seafood menu and some Mexican influence. They list only a few inexpensive wines-none that looked interesting. We had sangria, both the red and the white were nothing special (no fresh fruit or interesting spices). We ordered three appetizers: a dish of large juicy mussels in a tasty rich sauce (the best dish of the night, at least for me), a crab cake that was quite spicy but not really rich in crab, and a fried calamari dish that was all small stringy squid with too much fried batter, and no interesting spice or sauce. After the waiter insisted that the chef would likely refuse to bring out fish that was not thoroughly cooked, we did get yellowtail medium rare as requested. But it was not a very good quality yellowtail. It came with some veges that were fresh and well prepared and rice that was ordinary. One of us had swordfish that he said was good but not great. We skipped dessert. Not terrible, but would not repeat.

Small but great restaurant. Great menu and friendly/knowledgeable staff. We were lucky to get seated when we walked in, but next time if there is a wait, we will not mind.
