We stayed for one night on the rv park and loved the location with easy access to a beautiful beach watching pelicans and whales. The welcome was pleasant and helpful but the one negative was that Reserve America's paperwork hinted at but did not emphasise a major problem with electricity on this site, hence we had to use our generator. This one niggle apart the site was clean and well organised

Over all we had a lovely time. The check in was easy and the staff helpful for everything. We even had wood delivered to us once which was nice! The roaring waves while sleeping is always a beautiful thing and the surfers really seem to hang out here. A beautiful sunset, soccer on the beach, trees for the boys to climb. F U N ! One of our neighbors even offered us oranges from their campsite which turned into fresh squeeze juice for breakfast. Lots of people had dogs an no one was too loud so all in all it was a nice trip.

This is a great southern California beach. Clean, not crowded, beautiful scenery, great cliffs and sandy beach area. Free parking. The people are friendly. So clean, makes me proud of our large San Diego area community. Cliff climbing is very fun and a great workout but please be careful as the cliffs are made of sand and you can easily loose your footing. We saw three dolphins surfing in the waves right off shore. I highly recommend this beach, but please help us all take care of it by keeping it clean. Oh, there's an In and Out Burgers just around the corner.

There's not many campgrounds in So Cal, and only a handful at the beach. South Carlsbad State Beach is a decent place. Winter is a great time to visit: 70 deg weather and sunny. I've been camping during the weekdays and there are plenty of open spots. Weekend crowds fill up spots on Fri and Saturdays. There is car noise from the adjacent highway but its not too bad. Beach water quality is better here than beaches further south. For tent camping I recommend spots on the south side because they're less dusty (131-135). If you love the beach this place is for you.

I stayed 3 nights on the ocean side. The ocean side provides great views and the sound of roaring surf at night. That being said, you can still hear the traffic noise from the Pacific Coast Hwy. The sites that are less money, $35.00 are very close to the highway so are noisier.
The road through the park is rather narrow and getting in the back up
sites is a chore. There are quite a few pull through. Be sure to check out the length of the drive. Most are 35 feet so if you are pulling a long trailer you will need to angle it and unhitch. Sites do accommodate 2 vehicles. There are a few newer hookup sites near entrance of park but no electricity, only water and sewer. Very long flight of wooden stairs to beach. Bathrooms are really nice, each stall completey private with own door, same with showers, very good. You will need tokens in exchange for dollars. Only downside here is that there are so many walkers and joggers on the main road all day long, many bringing their dogs. There is a parking area at end of park and people come just to walk through the park for exercise. Great campground if you just want a spot above the ocean and want to surf or swim but for peace and quiet this is not the spot. Charge is $50.00 per night for the ocean view side.
