“Wonderful restaurant at University of San Diego - Great value!”
Reviewed April 8, 2014

Touring University of San Diego, we were so surprised to find a wonderful restaurant in the middle of the campus. We ate lunch; there were several great menu choices plus a $14.25 buffett with many choices (ribs and salmon; two salads; two vegetables; several desserts). We've eaten on many campuses; this is by far the best college restaurant we have eaten at. Great value for great food!

La Gran Terraza has a wonderful view over the canyons and onto the ocean. There is a nice bar, O'Tooles adjacent to the restaurant. There is ample parking behind the restaurant and they are on OpenTable.

We looked over the dinner menu and were amazed at the selection and the price. La Gran Terraza is probably the best value in San Diego.

“Dinner”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Last night (18/1/2013) was our ( 6 of us) first experience at La Gran Terraza and it definitely will not be our last. The restuarant atmosphere was quiet, open and elegant with a lovely view day and night. The food was wonderfully delicious, outstanding! Amongst our choices were Proscitto wrapped shrimp, Jicama Salad with entrees of Short Ribs, Fish, and Scallops. We all chose a different dessert and each person's was "The best!".The food was cooked to perfection, presentation was impressive and of the sauces on the entrees and dessert were to die for. We even broke dining etiquette to (very) discrietly scrape every drop of sauce from our plates. Service was outstanding. The only minor thing was the bread basket server could have come around more often and had butter on the basket not just on the table. A great experience!

“Horrible Service!”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

This was a while back (few months ago) we had a big group but we wanted separate checks - we requested separate checks in the beginning of the meal because we know that it would take a while - when we were ready to leave (our waiter, Charles) got pissed off at us because we wanted separate checks. We finally told him fine - let's get one check, we got one bill but the gratuity was charged twice. We had to call the manager and had her fix the bill for us. I like the place, I like the food but Charles sucked!!!

“Sunday Brunch”
Reviewed May 21, 2012

Got a email from Open Table with the ten best brunches in San Diego, La Gran Terraza was on the list. I was really disappointed. I had Tenderloin Eggs Benedict and Potatoes O'Brien. The Benedict was minuscule, not even enough muffin to sop up the hollandaise and egg yolk. The Potatoes O'Brien was not Potatoes O'Brien. They where some concoction of sweet potato, purple potato, fingerling potatoes, a couple of strips of onion and bell pepper. One member of our party tried but could not eat the potatoes. The gravy and biscuits had no biscuits, but toast. The french toast was so hard my wife could not eat it. We were disappointed to be sure. To be fair, the manager took $50 off our bill and gave us a $20 coupon for our next visit.
