We have eaten here twice before when visiting San Diego and decided to do so again as we loved the food and service on previous visits. This time was a little bit of a let down. We did not have a reservation but when asking for availability of a table for two, we got conflicting information. We were just about to walk away when a more senior staff member offered us a table outside which we took.
The waiter asked for our drink order and we asked for a bottle of wine. Not knowing the local wines, he gave us a glass and asked if it was okay and we said it was. Later, when asked by another staff member if we would like another drink, we said that we had a bottle and they went to fetch this. Upon returning to the table he mentioned that there was no bottle. We were not too happy about this as the wine was much more expensive by the glass than the bottle. After some discussion with the staff, they agreed to only charge us the bottle price for the wine.
The meals were mixed up and my husband received my medium steak and I received his rare steak.
As it had been my birthday, they did present me with a Creme Brûlée which is my favourite dessert. This was a nice touch but the other glitches in the service and the food for the night did take the shine off the evening.
