Description: Bistro Sixty began as San Diego Desserts, a wholesale bakery in 1999, providing desserts to local restaurants, hotels and other venues. In 2008 we wanted to make a deeper connection to our neighbors, so we added a few tables to the front of the store so people in the neighborhood could enjoy a dessert here in the restaurant, or buy some to take home. Soon after we added restaurant seating, we added bistro food to our menu. The new menu was well received and in 2009 we expanded to include patio dining and began offering wine to complement our bistro food. Our goal is to provide a fun, relaxing environment where you can enjoy food, friends and wine in a safe, comfortable environment. For us, the thing we love about bistro sixty is that it's like having you over to our home. Maybe that's why our neighbors and guests are so important to us-and over the years we've come to know them as friends.

“Trendy Local Bistro With Great Food and Wine at Reasonable Prices!”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

San Diego Desserts is also known as Bistro 60. This combination bakery - bar - dining room is located in an ugly strip mall pocked area of San Diego, just west of San Diego State University. We snagged street parking, although customer parking is permitted at a nearby bank. I have driven past Bistro 60 literally hundreds of times, never noticing the place. Friends introduced us to the restaurant, which, on a Friday night, featured live music. Bistro 60 hummed with activity, so luckily, we had reservations. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The dishes we sampled, following the brussels sprouts appetizer, were: fresh pasta spinach lasagna w/feta, beet and panko-crusted goat cheese salad, a scallop risotto and a spicy chicken and ravioli combo. Some decadent chocolate desserts followed. (Note: The menu changes frequently, sometimes daily.) We washed our delicious food down with a wonderful Laird Pinot Grigio - substituted by the sommelier at the same price as the Murphy-Goode we'd originally ordered, now out of stock. When asked where his key chain was, the sommelier replied that since he was wearing shorts, he couldn't possibly be wearing the chain. We spent significantly less at Bistro 60 than in comparable restaurants with better addresses. Highly recommended!

“Friendly Service & Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

I go frequently as they offer some outstanding live entertainment in the "Bistro" area. This is the covered patio area directly to the left of the entrance.

There is a nice wine selection, as well as craft beers. Additionally the appetizer menu is enticing, because it is generally Happy Hour pricing while the live music is going on.

I have never had a less than attentive server, and my order always comes quickly.

Neighborhood Close.
Nice, fairly priced appetizer choices.
Great live music.
Friendly Staff.
Excellent beer & wine selections.

What more do you want?

Oh yeah....they have remodeled the main dining area, and it is quite charming.

“Just say no...”
Reviewed October 25, 2010

...if you think it might be worth your time to eat here. I went three times because it is close to home, but each time the portions diminished in size and it is loud because of the cement floors. The menu is THIN. Wine list os ok, but you get the feeling the menu was an afterthought. You can easily rack up a $70 bill with an apptetizer, menu choice and a moderately priced bottle of wine and then you wonder, what did I just get for severnty bucks?
