San Diego Desserts is also known as Bistro 60. This combination bakery - bar - dining room is located in an ugly strip mall pocked area of San Diego, just west of San Diego State University. We snagged street parking, although customer parking is permitted at a nearby bank. I have driven past Bistro 60 literally hundreds of times, never noticing the place. Friends introduced us to the restaurant, which, on a Friday night, featured live music. Bistro 60 hummed with activity, so luckily, we had reservations. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The dishes we sampled, following the brussels sprouts appetizer, were: fresh pasta spinach lasagna w/feta, beet and panko-crusted goat cheese salad, a scallop risotto and a spicy chicken and ravioli combo. Some decadent chocolate desserts followed. (Note: The menu changes frequently, sometimes daily.) We washed our delicious food down with a wonderful Laird Pinot Grigio - substituted by the sommelier at the same price as the Murphy-Goode we'd originally ordered, now out of stock. When asked where his key chain was, the sommelier replied that since he was wearing shorts, he couldn't possibly be wearing the chain. We spent significantly less at Bistro 60 than in comparable restaurants with better addresses. Highly recommended!
