Not crowded on an early afternoon, despite relatively mild wind and pleasant sunshine. Hiked down from the glider port parking lot (about 15 minutes) which is probably ill-advised after rain... once at beach level turn right, find a spot to put your towel & clothes and wander along the shore. Never felt uncomfortable at all, quite the opposite. Was tempted to just jump in the water, but it was too cold, and ran out of time on the lunch break. The steep hike back up to the parking lot took 12 minutes and provides a little cardio vascular exercise... Definitely worth coming back here!

Black beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have been to there is a nice hike down a trail that takes about ten minutes to get down to the Beach. It's a little cold but definately worth making the trip to see it. Just be careful because it a nude beach so you might see a little more than you want to see

Used to be a nude beach, but forget about all that. If you want big powerful waves, go to Blacks. The best surf south of tressels. OK, maybe Wind and Sea, but you get Blacks without the attitude. Watch out though, these are some heavy waves and they can be very punishing.

This is a clothing optional beach below the La Jolla glider port. There are stairs from the glider port parking lot to the beach, but they're challenging. Surfers just run down paths down the cliffside - also challenging. If you don't mind walking a ways (a long ways), you can park at Torrey Pines park and walk to it along the beach. Sometimes you may see families playing beach volleyball in the nude, or male/female couples where the woman is in the nude. Mostly, you'll see very tan nude men lurking around who, though the signs say not to photograph or bother the beachgoers, will anyway. A popular surf beach is right next door.
