“Great Urban Hiking local”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

What was once military property, now constitutes a great and convenient getaway for hikers, bikers, and climbers and birders. There are lots of hiking trails. Local outdoor businesses hold compass reading as well as rock climbing classes here. There is a lovely Visitor's Center which has lovely views of the area, maps of the park, a library and rooms for nature classes. Great place for a quick getaway from traffic and trails to fit the ability of most hikers. And even in summer the San Diego River flows over the lovely 19th century brick dam.

Mission Trail Regional Park is a great place for a hike. The museum is interesting and there are historical places to see also. Worth seeing!

Great place near the city to hike. You can also rock climb there. I often take my pup there after work and run.

“Great hiking & scenic local”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

Not far from central San Diego but feels like your away from everything and out in the country. Easy hiking trails. Bring your dog too. Streams, trees and various native vegetation. FREE! They have a nice building for nature displays too. Bring water.

“Great running trails”
Reviewed March 13, 2012

Love to trail-run here, open stretches (flat, all though sometimes sandy, rather a pain) intermixed with some hills, watch your footing on rocks in various parts of the trails not to twist an ankle. Moderate difficulty.
