Review of Huapango's

Huapango's
Ranked #1,146 of 5,172 Restaurants in San Diego
Cuisines: Mexican
Description: Here's my review: The good news is it's on a busy street corner. The bad news is, well, you get the idea. There's not much to be done about the bus stop out front or the weed-surrounded dilapidated tractor next door, but faster and more attentive service would help to distract customers. The beer menu is lengthy and several are offered in pint drafts, more would be better. Chips and salsa are complimentary but the cheesy one is oddly reminiscent of velveeta and picante sauce. Entrees were colorful and flavorful and food is generally good. The biggest challenge for Huapango's is the street corner location and the best remedy would seem to be service that is louder and faster than the street.

This is a wonderful restaurant. The margaritas (top shelf) were some of the best we've had in San Diego. The food was terrific (best jalapeño cheese dip) and the atmosphere is great. We would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back. The only drawback is available parking although we had no trouble finding parking on the streets. Go and check it out; you won't be disappointed.

We love this place! Wonderful for happy hour. Our favorite dish are the grilled fish tacos on the healthy menu....outstanding! Sangria is excellent and margaritas are strong and delicious. We also enjoy the guacamole and sampler plate at happy hour. Friendly people provide excellent service in a place with Spanish style and ambiance.

This place has all the qualifications of a good restaurant, good food, good service, good prices, and good ambiance. We've been many times and have never been disappointed. The waiters are very attentive and polite, and they offer a nice variety of items in their menu (the ceviche is one of our favourites). And I particularly like the Latin music they play in the background.
