read all the hype, tried it. Food and service were good but the flavors but the food was not only not as flavorful as Arrividerci in Hillcrest and also not as great a value.
I've eaten all over San Diego but I think I've found my new favorite - enoteca Adriano! We went with some friends tonight and it was fantastic. OK a few words of caution. 1) they are very specific with reservations so if yu want to eat outside you have to specify it in your reservation. 2) it can be a little hot and dark inside. Other than that this is a first -class dining spot. We sampled tw appetizers and they were great. The bruschetta was made very heirloom tomatoes and some delicious creamy honey ricotta cheese. It was amazingly but ony really e ough for two people if that is all you rider. We also had one of their Burratas - this is fresh made very creamy mozzarella cheese sliced open and mixed with tomatoes, candied pecans and delicious salad. It was great and perfect for sharing.
We each had a different appetizer and each wasgreat. Except for the pasta each came with delicious vegetables. I had the veal Milanese. It was great. My wife had the veal piccata. A very large portion but it could have used more lemon. One friend had a delicious salmon dish and the other had cappelini - a spicy pasta dish with minced sausage in pasta like a tortelloni. I loved it
For dessert we had Pope's Pillow. It was large enoug h for all four of us to share. This desser is a big puff pastry, cut open and stuffed with fresh berries and mascarpone cheese. I loved it.
Overll this very casual restaurant turned out very high quality food. I will definitely go back.
Quaint ,family style restaurant near Mission beach, which I may now call a hidden gem. The food is simple and elegant, with notes of modern flare but the with the soul of traditional Italian cuisine. Everything on the menu is cooked with the chef's heart and passion. A truly remarkable dining experience, worth coming from Montreal just to experience it. Keep up the great work.
This place is the best anywhere. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food. We live over an hour away, but whenever we take a day trip to San Diego, the day ends at Enoteca Adriano. Everyone from the hostess on up to Franco, the owner, really cares about our experience.
THE KIDS LOVE IT !!!!! We have a 7 and a 5 year-old. They actually behave at this restaurant. It's fine dining, but not too formal, they are comfortable there. We usually aren't the only family with small children there. We all love the bread (we have stop the kids from filling up on it). The kids love the italian sodas and the Pope Pillow Dessert. When the kids order chocolate milk, the waiter does a fancy chocolate design on the inside of the glass and sprinkles cocoa powder on top. We call it a "kid cappucino" When we're still eating, it keeps the kids busy trying to clean the inside of the glass with the straw and spoon.
We love the menu and wine selection. Actually, we've never selected our own wine. We just ask the server to bring whatever wine goes with our entree and we have never been disappointed.
We usually go in at the 5:00 opening, but there are other people there, too. Sometimes when you go out to dinner early, you have to sit in an empty restaurant and listen to the din of the staff setting up the dining room. But not here. They open at 5 and they are ready to serve. It's fantastic. It's worth the trip from anywhere. Better make reservations. They fill up early and stay full.
