The botanical building and Lily Pond are in Balboa Park. The Botanical building has beautiful and unusual plants. It is a lovely place to walk around. The Lily Pond is right next to the Botanical Building and is a long reflective pool. It is quite nice.

Unfortunately we didn't get to go inside the Botanical building, as it was past 5. The Lily pond was quite breathtaking. There was a musician playing, which really made a cool atmosphere. A very special area of a gem of a park.

It is so calming with musicians playing, weddings being shot, lilies in the pond and if you are lucky the turtles will come out.
Come bring your coffee and be prepared to be entertained by all the people.

The Lily Pond is one of the most photographed spots in Balboa Park. In fact, I have uploaded a pic of my grandmother and her in-laws taken there in 1938. It still looks exactly the same. One of the largest lath buildings in the world. I wish the plants inside had more labeling and info, but I do enjoy wandering around in there, especially on a cool day, as I am often in San Diego in April or November, when the weather can be iffy. There are often musicians playing near the pond and lots of kids oohing and ahhing over the koi.
