“Fabulous place to hear some music, usually local, always fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

I love the fact that the concerts are free, often during the day, and many different genres. You never now what you may hear there. I tend to stumble upon the concerts; don't know why but the ones I plan on going to, I miss, and then just happen to be strolling through when a band or musician is tuning up. It's always a happy accident when that happens. Lots of seating, plenty of room to spread out. I confess that I haven't been there for a really big concert so have never experienced crowds but I understand it can get jammed up at times. It's a fun place for a picnic especially if you want to spend the day exploring Balboa Park.

“Very nice attraction.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

We went to Balboa Park on a Sunday afternoon to attend the FREE concert at the Spreckles Organ Pavilion. This is an amazing experience - best heard from the seats in front of the organ - and while you can hear it from the sides in the shade it is much better in front (and they will tell you that and encourage you to move). Umbrellas are rented for $2 so making your own shade is not a problem. We were very glad we attended this concert. This was our main reason for going to Balboa Park which is a huge park with a lot to see, to much to see in one day really.

“a Hoot!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Stayed for the concert and silent movie. What a hoot. This is the largest Organ "booster club" in the world. 1000 paying members.People danced... like us! Largest organ I'd ever seen. The whole building, I was told, is part of the organ. I think it originally went up in 1936. Old. Architecture out at Balboa Park is worth the trip in itself.

“Summer Concerts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

The summer concerts are terrific. People dance and it's all free. Bring a picnic and find a place in the shade. If you are going to the Old Globe Theatre, the concerts are timed perfectly for you to walk over to the Globe in time for the play.
