If you love Philly style Cheese Steaks, this is really close.
From the Amoroso rolls to the Tastykakes, and oh yeah, guys from Philadelphia on the grill. Nothing is over ten bucks, you can get breakfast (Peppers and Eggs, yeah) as well as lunch. Hoagies (done the right way, no mayo just oil and vinegar), Chicken and Eggplant Parm, the ambiguous Meatball and don’t forget the Sausage and Peppers subs.
If your dining companion needs a burger and fries, they have that too. Whatever you do, take your time and look the entire menu over before you decide, there’s so much to choose from. You might miss what you‘ve been missing since you left back East.
It’s a small joint, some tables inside and out, make sure you try to time it during the off peak rush. We got there about 11 in the morning, by the time we got our food and started to leave it was packed.
You may have a hard time finding Alex’s, it’s tucked into an office building. We parked on Fifth Avenue and entered into the central courtyard, followed our noses and found it towards Maple Street. No big signs, but so worth it.
